I mean, you're just correct to do that. Columbus Day isn't really about celebrating Columbus in particular, it exists as an olive branch towards the Italian-American population due to how much they were discriminated against in the 1800s. Columbus Day is just Italian St. Patrick's Day.
That's what pisses me off about trying to erase it or change it to "National Indigenous People's Day", it's erasing history of the discrimination of a minority group.

I feel like most people don't even know this, and it's because Italian-Americans took the olive branch instead of pushing it away so they could keep their eternal victim status.

These activists cannot fathom that they would get full support if they picked a day not already in use and demanded that the government create a new federal holiday. That's partly due to the fact that, while it's legalised in a bunch of states, it's still illegal federally. That means the only people who can reliably supply it and make money from it, without banks and the feds crawling up their backsides, are people who are already used to evading federal restrictions. i've been getting a bunch of SNL shit algorithmically delivered to me and it's really shocking how low quality and unfunny it is, even the stuff that people talk about as being the best. the chris farley and norm mcdonald skits i remember being funny were generally funny but like... at the expense of the show? when the best parts of your show are the parts that make fun of the writers, im not sure the show is even good.

Lake was one of the few politicians running who saw what Trump was doing and speaking to and copied it. This upset the dying McCain AZ GOP faggots, as she upended their whole RINO establishment. So in return they didn't help her at all in '22, and coupled with the blatant fraud in Maricopa, where they deliberately screwed over the red areas of the city with wrong size ballot paper and "broken" machines. There's also the ever more apparent appearance of the drug cartels having significant influence in how things are done in the state, to a degree I want Trump to use it as a test for getting foreign gangs out of the country.
