Even Trump pointed out that without government subsidies Elon Musk would be penniless. There is not a single American posting in this thread who has not received material benefits from the US taxpayer.

Joking aside, yes I'm sure SNAP/EBT could be tightened up and improved. I also think the process by which an item gets "approved" into the system is probably more complicated than people make it out to be and making commonsense changes like not allowing upscale/luxury brands (which is a marketing perception rather than an actual category) is not actually straightforward.

it's so dumb. the poors get a chunk of money same as cash and they have to budget food for groceries. If they spend it all in the first week on junk food, oh well, they had their allotment and wasted it.
