My mom told me only easily brainwashed idiots watched Captain Planet so that I would look down on kids who liked it. It worked.

strange how in the past 30-40 years every time someone on the right would accuse something of being leftist propaganda or warn about the consequences of accepting some degenerate shit they were universally called crazy paranoid idiots only for everyone to eventually realize they were 100% correct 99% of the time.

Captain Planet these days would be considered too right-wing to be considered a leftist propaganda. It would be considered racist AND conservative propaganda by the most insane of people.

That's a good point. Fighting pollution, having clean street and parks and not littering is incompatible with the modern leftist worldview.

A modern left-wing Captain Planet would be about fighting climate change, enacting emission standards and carbon taxes, and pressuring for political changes.

Also Captain Planet would be a tranny.

While we are being nostalgic and autistic about an old and gay cartoon show, let me bring up another one:

Care Bears. My brother and I made fun of the Care Bears all of the time when we were little, and we were thoroughly creeped out by the theme song:

I watched Captain Planet because it was funny. It was obvious what they were trying to do with the show, and they did it poorly, which made it funny.

Here are some things I remember happening:
-The American, Wheeler, was always the one who had the wrong opinion or attitude about the episode's subject, so that the other little shits could lecture him about it.
-Looten Plunder, the businessman villain, puts a bunch of giant glass domes over the Amazon, and then tells everyone that they have to pay him for air.
-Dr. Blight shoots the Planeteers with a gun that seals them up in cocoons and turns them into juvenile delinquents.
-Kwame, the African kid, gets a used diaper thrown in his face. He gets so upset about it that he fucking quits being a Planeteer on the spot.
-Two of the Planeteers get launched into space. When Captain Planet tries to send everyone their powers back, two of those powers can't return, so he's stuck with only two powers. One of the villains says he's been demoted to Corporal, then they laugh at him.
-The Planeteers are put on trial by Bigfoot for all of the crimes mankind has committed against the environment. Bigfoot finds them guilty, and sentences them to a lifetime of feeling guilty. Then, he erases their memory of the whole trial.

Oh, the original had plenty of pressuring for political changes. There were PSAs after episodes, imploring the kids to pester their parents to call their legislators to demand support for some bill or measure or another.

I guess my mom was too busy (at the time) being a single mother to pay too close attention to the stupid shit I was watching.

Side note: Ever since I became political, I've always thought that both my mom and my step dad were conservative.. At least up until they both caught TDS. I've actually recently heard them both say that they like J.D. Vance, but there's still a non-zero chance that they'll be voting Kamala, I'm too afraid to ask tbh.
