I can't blame him for fleeing. His options were a non-extradition country, or a kangaroo court followed by spending the rest of his life in the Hell on Earth that is ADX Florence.

The DPP and modern KMT are effectively two sides of the old KMT coin. The KMT is the pro–Chinese National side and the DPP is the pro-Taiwanese side, but both are anti-PRC.
