I only ever watched his Bible series but I got the sense that he's a Christian in the sense that he agrees with the moral framework prescribed in the Bible but he doesn't believe it literally.

Peterson's mealy-mouthed obscurantism has now reached such a level that he can't even give a straight answer to the question of whether or not dragons are real.

Discussions such as these really are philosophy at it's very worst: pointless semantics as a substitute for any real substance. No lucidity, no important implications; just pretentious waffle for idiots to lap up and imbue with assumptions that what they're wasting their time listening to is actually deeply insightful.

Dawkins has also gone down in my estimation in recent years. Like Peterson, he hasn't done anything meaningful in his academic field for years, yet still manages to ride on the coattails of his past position as a crotchety, self-aggrandizing pundit. Why can't these guys just do the dignified thing and retire?

Dawkins is an interesting one. He disappeared for about 10 years and then all of a sudden reappeared, doing the same atheist routine as before. I know he had a stroke at some point, so he possibly did need a rest for a while, but the timing all seems quite convenient to me. Just as the Palestinian genocide was getting under way, we were suddenly being prompted to think about those terrible backwards theocracies again. The same thing happened with Tommy Robinson. He hadn't been seen for years and then all of a sudden he was being interviewed by Professor Peniswash and holding an anti-Islam rally in London so the sports ball fans could wave their Israel flags.

I'll always have a soft spot for Dawkins though. He's brilliant on the topic of evolution and articulates himself so well in both speech and writing. He's politically useless but if you ask him a question, at least he'll let you know what he thinks in the most clear and concise way possible. He is the anti-peniswasher in that regard. His dick probably stinks.

The grifter circuit is too lucrative to walk away from. Clowns like the Lobster King get six figure incomes opining about dragons and unwashed penises. It’s easy, low effort, and pays much better than riding out his final years in academia. Peterson doesn’t seem like the type to have stable finances so it’s not very likely that he can comfortably retire either at this point.
