Nonetheless, he's backing what are still extant, well-established minority positions articulated in security and defense policy. The big strategic choices of 'Containing Russia and China together and simultaneously' or 'Contain China by Courting Russia' are the only strategic areas he has any daylight from conventional politicians. He's in favor of the latter and it's unpopular since it's less spendy, less ambitious, and a betrayal of the principles of significant portions of Americans and far more importantly, its elites.

No gravy trains stopped flowing when he was president, and it's insane to think that Trump of all people could ever be antigravy. The man colors his skin somewhere between ham gravy and rose gold, he is a gravyman.

Trump is not countersystemic, his election as a phenomena had the appearance of being countersystemic since it upset elites, but his lack of interest in policy, staffing, and non-election politicking puts the lie to that. His mediocrity as an executive indicates that he has no hidden or visible intentions to fuck with things much less the ability or will to succeed at fucking with things. In my opinion he is almost entirely culturally offensive to high status conformists (aka the wealthy and powerful).
