I think you’re underestimating the utility of a submachine gun. The Tommy gun was pretty popular with organized crime till it got banned, and I can’t believe that was for no reason.
Now, idk if it’s preferable over a modern semiautomatic rifle, but 900+ RPM of .45 ACP in a rather compact package is nothing to turn a nose up at.

That was back in the day though. A Thompson was like the only alternative. Unless you wanted to haul a giant BAR around. It was either that or a 6-8 round handgun or shotgun.

And they were heavy and cumbersome as fuck.

Today, you can have a handgun with as many rounds as Thompson, and much better controllability.

Or a semiautomatic MP5 class gun. Same capacity. Can shoot almost as fast with a mod or training. Much better controllability.

Cops use rifles when they need a lot of firepower, and almost any military “assault rifle” settled on a 3 round burst as the ideal compromise between amount of fire and controllability.

The “automatic weapons are too dangerous” never made any less sense than now.

The play was always to get a war with Iran started at the end of a Presidential term. It was the plan under Trump, but he resisted making John Bolton sad in the pants. They wanted to get it under Trump so the neo-con Dems could then happily conduct the war when they regain office but blame Trump. That pivot to starting under Biden who from day 1 was always meant to be a one term. Ideally I think they hoped there'd be primaries and someone better in the election who'd then just blame dementia Joe to distance themselves while creaming their pants for getting the war they wanted. Or at least a complaint Republican. Now they'll force the war on Trump.

Pennsylvania officials are investigating as many as 2,500 fraudulent voter registration applications in Lancaster County. Speculation is that this is the work of MAGA activist Scott Presler. In other words, they found fraud and it wasn't from Democrats.
