You miss the point. The gas car burned the gallon of gas as well as the 40 miles worth of electricity it took to refine it. You can cut out the middleman.
You’re really comparing apples and oranges as gas is not equivalent to electricity; gas is an energy storage medium, so it is actually equivalent to the EV battery. You’d need to look at the energy cost of mining, processing, and building an EV battery to really start a sound comparison.

But that doesn’t really matter because your premise is wrong to begin with. A gallon of gasoline requires about 5kwh to produce (from well to gas tank). That’s enough power to move a typical EV around 15 to 20 miles, highly dependent on air temperature.

However the gallon of gas has around 33kwh of energy when burned in a vehicle’s internal combustion engine. Even adding in the 5kwh of electricity, a typical ICE sedan is still getting equal or better mileage than an EV gets. A hybrid vehicle is even better.

Of course the real value of gas is that it’s an incredibly energy dense storage medium, quite stable, and as a liquid, is convenient to move around to refuel a vehicle quickly. EV batteries are not energy dense, lose charge constantly (10% in cold weather), and are very slow to recharge.

And when they do just imagine how much worse the EV battery fires will be.
EV Fires aren't (mostly) due to energy density, but chemistry, NMC Lithium batteries fuel their own thermal runaway because, while burning, they release their own oxygen, kind of like Thermite, letting them burn fast, hot, and not be majorly affected by drowning or even suffocation, they could burn in a non-oxygen atmosphere for a little while.

LFP batteries are "safer", as in, they have less potential to release oxygen, and you need much higher temperatures to actually go into a thermal runaway, both of these mean that they're more susceptible to drowning (as it'll cool the batteries) and suffocation (it needs to steal oxygen from the air to keep up it's runaway).

Modern top-of-the-line LFP Batteries can go up to 200Wh/Kg, which is what most cheap NMC batteries will reach, yet it still has a chemical advantage for safety.

Doesn't mean it can't burn to shit, though.

I’m just making the point that there are better uses for refined oil than burning it (at low efficiency) for people to drive to the mall.

@teriyakiburns suggests that EVs are no better than they were 100 years ago. That is obviously wrong, or they wouldn’t be making a comeback. The energy density of a modern lithium battery is pushing on for 300Wh/kg, 10 times better than those old lead acid ones.
You can even viably use them for short distance air travel now.
Sure, it’s still nowhere near chemical fuel storage, but if you get 300+ mile range and mostly drive to the office and back, and can charge in your driveway, it’s good enough, and the other advantages make it a no brainer.
it always confounds me that people with environmental tendencies have issue with us using gasoline as a transportation fuel but have completely contradictory opinions about actually accomplishing it. if there are better uses for oil than burning it for people to drive to the mall then where do you expect all of that electricity to come from? plus that's just how hybrid cars work anyways. so it's just the same thing with extra steps owned by corporations/the government

Like I said, don't want the podcast to be too one way or the other. Just keeping the attention and running the narrative, very good.

If you assume a similar fuel (natural gas in the power plant vs gasoline), it does work out better.
And what if we include the number of manufacturing the battery as well? Including how much CO2 is used for extraction of the Lithium?

Given that roughly 100 lbs of gasoline can carry as much energy, often more, than 1000-1500 lb of batteries, I think that ICE is
inherently more friendly to the environment over the long term.

Don't forget the cost and environmental impact of mining and making the lithium batterries
And that unlike an ICE engine which is built ONCE over the lifetime of the vehicle, you’d need to junk the battery every 7-10 years and create a new one.

That makes a meaningful difference as well, considering how many cars are driven for decades.

if energy density is the issue then the answer is just using nuclear. the issue isn't energy density, it's how easy the energy is to access and how easy it is to engineer a machine that has the same safety parameters as what people expect and batteries still aren't as safe as combustion engines. all of the other alternative tech like hydrogen are even worse

I'm kinda surprised that there is no discussion on the Harris event aside from mentioning that Beyonce didn't Sinn and Harris got booed. How did it end? Was there anything substantial at all? Is anyone at all talking about it, aside from full drunk on Kool aid media sources talking about a fictional reimagining?
Nobody's really talking about it anywhere. Even on DU and Dailykos there's minimal talking about anything she does besides tokenism. Like I tell everyone I know, they liked Obama, Gore, and even Hillary and were excited.

This time there's just no energy because she's awful and unlikable in every way. Even other women I know go on about how ugly she is.

Listening to Good Morning America before heading out, and the political dumb bitch they had on acted like Beyonce gave a performance instead of just reading gay fanfic, then said Trump praised confederate generals on Rogan and was 3 hours late to his MI rally and hundreds of people left the rally. God they're desperate.

I feel like there's some kind animu autist in-joke going on here, but I don't know enough about Chinese cartoons to understand it.
In the hit anime Dragonball Z, based on the manga by the late, great Akira Toriyama, one of the most powerful techniques in-universe is the Genki Dama, often translated as Spirit Bomb in English, though in some censored releases it has also been referred to as the Spirit Blast.

It is a unique technique in the sense that, rather than relying solely on the user's ki, a resource contained within all living things within the Dragonball universe that can be increased through martial arts training and used to enhance physical attributes or be projected as energy blasts, it draws upon the ki of each living thing residing on the planet the technique is used on. This includes both sentient beings such as humans, saiyans, and animals as well as other life forms including bacteria and plant life.

The final villain of the series is an entity known as Kid Buu, an entity shed from the previous villain Majin Buu after he discovers friendship and makes up his mind to be a better person. Kid Buu is Majin Buu's wickedness and cruelty personified and, having shed any desires beyond unrivaled power and conquest, is a far more formidable foe.

With previous attacks incapable of completely defeating Kid Buu, who is capable of near-instantaneous regeneration if even a single spec of his being remains, including Vegeta's Final Explosion, an omnidirectional ki blast so intense that it completely vaporized his own body as a consequence, Goku, the series's primary protagonist, decides that the only way to defeat Kid Buu will be to utilize the Spirit Bomb.

The primary drawback of the Spirit Bomb, and the reason that it is rarely utilized, is because it requires a large amount of time to draw in the energy required, unlike typical ki blasts which can be utilized instantly, or more powerful ki based techniques such as Goku's signature attack, the Turtle School of Martial Arts' KameHameHa or Vegeta's Final Flash and Galick Gun which require a short wind-up period to concentrate the user's own ki.

However, this drawback to the technique can be partially circumvented by sentient beings actively donating their ki to the Spirit Bomb. While ki manipulation typically takes many years of martial arts training to master the act of donating ki to the Spirit Bomb is facilitated by the technique, allowing volunteers to participate simply by raising their hands and willing it to occur. This causes the primary difficulty of speeding the technique's acquisition of ki to be informing the occupants of the planet that the technique is being used

Mr. Satan, often localized as Hercule, is the reigning martial arts champion of the world despite being far weaker than Goku and his companions as a result of the rest of the Z Fighters typically being occupied with far graver threats during the World Martial Arts Tournament. As a result of this fact, he is one of the most prominent celebrities in the world of Dragonball Z. With the Earthlings unwilling to participate in the Spirit Bomb he frantically pleads with them, using his connections as a public persona to have his words broadcast to the entire world. His pleas are ultimately successful, and with the participation of nearly everyone in the world Goku manages to use the Spirit Bomb to completely and utterly annihilate Kid Buu, freeing the world from his reign of terror and preventing him from spreading it to the greater universe in the process.

There's no discussion about Harris because she's obscenely predictable:
- She needs teleprompters to sound coherent
- She has no idea what her policies are
- She will blunder the softest of softballs that even a 12 year old would handle well
- Overpromise, underdeliver. Always (Beyonce, October Surprise, All of her recent press releases, Interviews are cut short, or missing the part people care about)

Why talk about Harris' 13th major failure of a public appearance when you could just copy/paste the entire discourse from failure 1 through 12? People are getting bored.

I'll even say that Walz is even worse, you barely hear anything about him at all, and the few times you do, it's him embarrassing himself.

This entire campaign was the Blunderiest of Blunders on the Democrat side, no wonder people vote Trump whilst hating him.
There's just nothing on the Democrat side except "Trump is literally hitler and a felon" and "I grew up a middle class kid".
This isn't an electoral campaign, it's just bad TEDx talks about Kamala's personal opinion on trump.

Seriously why the fuck does he eat his steaks like that?
If you like the crunchy crust of a steak - a well done steak can be that all the way through. I actually think it can be pretty difficult to do a well done steak well - and don’t bother with them usually.

But sometimes that and some massive salt is just what you want. Almost like hot jerky.

Podcast was good. Over 10m views on Jew tube alone now and just in time for last minute registrations. Makes Harris look really bad; she can’t do 10 minutes and even Rogan said he couldn’t talk policy with her and would just try to shoot the shit. I hope her team scrambles to get something setup it’ll be so bad.

the democrats messaging since reagan has been a smarmy "we're more sophisticated than the other guys." which is actually an extremely effective strategy when the 'other guys' are good old boy republicans whose strategy to get elected is telling their constituents they aren't sophisticated. it's actually completely effortless and doesn't require any planning at all whatsoever. they've been on autopilot for so long they didn't realize they had to do something else for trump or they would screw themselves over. you're looking at the results of 'screwing themselves over"

Absolutely, Trump has the showmanship down perfectly

Lee is a man often misunderstood, when Lincoln was assassinated, he condemned it and was very much on board with the idea of reconciliation to heal America. He loved America, but he loved being Virginian too. I would envy neither him nor Lincoln when the Confederates fired on Sumter, war is a terrible thing, brother wars even more so.

The McDonalds visit happened on Kamala's birthday, totally eclipsing it, if Trump doesn't plan these sorts of things in advance, then he really is the main character and reality morphs at his whim.
Yes of coarse, Lee was a great man and a very godly man whose honor has been destroyed by modern day buffoons who have never accomplished a thing in their lives, Trump did very well by me to mention that in prime time. The reaction in the media will be like holy water on demon skin.

Once we're in office the first thing we need to do is secure fair elections. IDs, in person, and on election day. Early voting or absentee voting should be difficult to be approved for. Get rid of ballot harvesting.

The further removed the electorate are from any effort toward their vote is bad enough, but there is no reason to push this shit outside of wanting to cheat. It creates a hairball of different ballot sources and that chaotic flood of unverifiable horseshit is where fraud is inserted.

It's so fucking simple. Show up to your voting station. Prove that you are so you say you are, which can easily prove whether or not you're a citizen. If you try to vote without citizenship, you go to prison. Make this a priority for the DoJ. Fear is a strong motivator.
The one i went to required an ID to vote.
