Is there a lobotomy in your future?
There is if Richard Nixon and Elliot
Richardson have their way.
Elliot Richardson, who was dubbed
“Secretary of Lobotomy” when he was
Secretary of Health Education and
‘Welfare because of his militation for
lobotomy as a cure for homosexuality
and violence has been promoted to the
office of Attorney General of the United
States. Richardson is now in charge of the
Department of Justice, the F.B.I., the
federal courts and the Federal Bureau of
Prisons. Thus, he has an ‘almost life and
death power. He decides who sould be
arrested, what sentence they should be
given, and then, when they fall into his
clutches, he can do practically anything
he wishes with them, including having
portions of their brans removed. .
When he was Secretary of HEW,
Richardson set up a pilot program to
experiment on brain surgeries as a cure
for homosexuality. HEW © subsidized
several such surgeries. Three were
performed by Dr. Walter Freeman at
Atascadero State Hospital and three
at Vacaville Prison, and an undisclosed
number in federal and state prisons.
In 1971, Richardson, in collusion with
Nixon, secured an appropriation from
Congress to pay for the erection of a
lobotomy center to be run by the Federal
Bureau of Prisons. Homosexuals, ‘high
security risks, militants and assaultive
inmates from other federal and state
prisons will be sent to the center at
Butner, North Carolina, for lobotomy
and other types of coercive behavior
modification.
The brain surgery being performed on
homosexuals consists of destroying the
sex center in the brain. Post-operative
cases do not become heterosexual, but
loose all interest in sex.
In another ominous development, the
Reagan Administration subsidized jointly
with the Nixon Administration, an
appropriation for a “Center for the Study
and Reduction of Violence’ at the
University of California at Los Angeles.
The center, which is operated jointly
by the California Departments of Mental
Hygine and Correcitons is to concentrate
on the “‘cure” of homosexuals, militants,
political dissenters and violent inmates.
Lobotomist Dr. Hunter Brown, who
boasts of having performed numerous
lobotomies on homosexual inmates of
California mental instituions, is being
considered for the staff, as is Dr. Frank
Ervin, long time advocate of lobotomy as
a cure for homosexuality, and author of a
Nixon Administration subsidized book on
the subject.
Dr. Brown once volunteered his
services free to California — in exchange
for being able to use homosexual and
“habitual criminal” inmates of California
prisons and mental institutions for his
experimental brain surgeries _ for
homosexuality and criminal behavior.
Lobotomies are being performed at
the U.S. Medical Center for Federal
Prisoners at Springfield, Missouri, and at
the Adirondak Treatment Center of the
New York State Department of
Corrections. The Advocate reports that
the Veterans Administration, in March of
1972, denied that any psychosurgery had
been performed in V.A. hosptials. In
May, after an expose by Sen. Edward
Kennedy, the V.A. admitted it had lied,
that 20 psychosurgerys had _ been
performed on V.A. patients to cure
“abnormal behavior.” Plans are underway
for lobotomy centers at the ULC.
Hospital, San Francisco and Ionia State
Hospital, Michigan. Undoubtedly
lobotomies as a cure for homosexuality
are being performed many other places.
The few that have come to light have
been exposed accidentally because of
leaks in the tight security of Nixonian
secrecy.
The Detroit Gay Liberator, in a front
page expose, disclosed that 11 Gay men
have been scheduled for surgery to
remove part of their brains at lonia State
Hospital, and 12 others for chemical
castration. .
The Gay media, including the
Advocate, have remained stragnely silent.
The Advocate has carried obscure
mentions of lobotomies, buried deep
inside articles, but the ominous
developments in the state and federal
governments plans for lobotomizing
homosexuals have been played down,
possibly due to the conservative: bias of
the Advocate — it’s reluctance to print
anything that is extremely critical of the
establishment.
Even I have doubts about the wisdom
of reporting this type of news. I have
been criticized by radicals, who feel
information such as this should be
withheld from readers because it creates
paranoia, frightens people away from the
movement, and cuases Gays to retreat
back into the closet. The radical view is
often that bad news, that might have a
bad psychological effect, should be kept a
closely guarded secret known only to the
leaders. That’s what they do in
Communist countries, and Communist
leaders have been successful in keeping
people under control by telling them only
what they find expediant.
Conservative readers prefer not to
hear anything that conflicts with their
dogmatic beliefs. It’s easier just to quote
a dogma or slogan than to have to face
facts that don’t confirm the dogma or
slogan. It’s easier to quote a slogan than
to think. Conservatives who have been
indoctrinated, brain washed with the
irrational notion that society is perfect,
that the police and govenrment can do no
wrong, and so won’t believe any
anti-establishment news, regardless of
how irrefutable the documentation.
For those who doubt that the Nixon
Administration is planning lobotomies on
homosexuals, I am placing irrefutablly
authentic government documents in the
