Trump came off really bad in the interview, too. He had trouble answering a simple question and Rogan laughed at Trump when Trump rambled about other shit when asked about voting fraud proof and if he was going to reveal it

I don't get how a lot of these people don't see how embarrassing that worshipping a politician like this is.
I dont think any American politician really received this cultish devotion before. Like sure people do hero worship them or have like weird candles of like Dr. Fauci as a priest.
However, at least with others there are at least things those people accomplished that makes it not as embarrassing as worshipping Trump whose greatest achievement was defeating the Bushes and Clintons.

I was in Tennessee a few years ago on vacation and there are "Trump Stores." I saw 3 of them.
WVLT’s Kyle Grainger visited the store’s grand opening Friday and spoke to the owner regarding the store.
Kate Stine was living out of her RV with her sister-in-law when Stine says the sister-in-law decided to open the store in Pigeon Forge.
“We did it because we love Trump,” said Stine. “We’re getting people from all over American that are coming into our store.”
Stine says it’s hard to keep the merchandise in stock and plans to stay open through the election.
Former Vice President Biden will be running for president on the Democratic ticket. There is not a store in East Tenn. for former Vice President Joe Biden but his merchandise can be purchased here.

There have been populists in US politics since Jackson and all the way through perhaps Ross Perot. Maybe you could even throw Bernie Sanders in there. And they have spanned both sides of the extremist ideologies we're still grappling with today, each with some pretty batshit insane followers and detractors.
In the vein of Trumpism:
George Wallace in the 60's was a populist with wildly fervent followers in favor of segregation and mocking the "intellectuals" who were against it. He was shot at repeatedly during his rise to prominence and ultimately ended up paralyzed from one of the bullets that wasn't shot by a Star Wars storm trooper.
On the socialist side:
There as a man named Huey Long in the early 1900's who had a pretty large following of people who believed in equitable redistribution of wealth and the basic Socialist economy tenants. He was assassinated and killed in the 1930's when he announced his campaign for president.
All that being said, what's different with Trump is he came about in the age of the internet where everyone's consciousnesses is concentrated and focused. Former populists who've risen to fame didn't have the luxury of being able to perform and create content for the entire world at once. Instead, their messages spread slowly at the pace of communication during their eras.
This pace of communication also isolated the fucking crazies and kept their aesthetics and behaviors in a silo instead of infecting the rest of the movement like we see with Trumpism.
