Also, thinking of it, what real problems is he causing that any other user doesn't also stir up anywhere else on the site?
The real core of the site is on-topic lolcow content. There's an entire chat right now, mostly of 4chan posters, dedicated to Fishtank. Sam Hyde, MDE, and Fishtank are about as far gone from "terfs" as any content on this site can get. Just pop in and look at them chat. But, of course, they're not indulging some homosexual meta-drama, they're engaged in actual content. They're watching something funny, talking about it in real time, posting clips to the thread. This is what the Kiwi Farms is. I bet you a lot of those people are also old 8chan users who hate me. Even Jet, Fishtanker's producer, hates me personally and wants to see forum users killed. Despite this, they're still happy in their space and aren't causing problems, so I like them a lot and enjoy when the Fishtank season visits the forum.
The off-topic boards were all started as a place for users of the on-topic area of the site to discuss off-topic things with each other, outside of the on-topic threads. It was not meant to be a community unto itself. Even then, the video game people and software people integrate neatly in, each with respective dramas and proto-lolcows to discuss. Even the fucking anime people, god fucking forbid, fit in better than A&H. They stay in their thread, they talk about anime bitches, they have their own lolcows and drama, and sometimes the drama is funny enough to have broad general appeal (the girl chased off for streaming Harry Potter comes to mind).
There is
nothing, absolutely fucking
nothing, that the on-topic area benefits from by having A&H's continued existence. It is
tolerated. I
tolerate it because 1) the on-topic users still deserve a place to discuss politics, and 2) I don't know what happens if I delete it. I know what happens if it stays up, and sort of like an invasive kudzu I can take a flamethrower and singe off the most retarded faggots every few months. I don't know what happens if I try to torch the whole thing all at once.
People like AgendaPoster represent the opposite of what I want to see, which is on-topic posters sheltering in place on the forum during droughts of content, forging friendships that keeps the community healthy even when things are slow or times are hard. AgendaPoster is an off-topic user who intrudes into the on-topic posters, picks fights, alienates users, and damages the ecosystem I am solely responsible for managing. Ultimately, it is my responsibility to decide who I tolerate and don't tolerate. Allowing people to pick fights and damage the parts of the site that actually generate content that improves the forum is a personal shortcoming and a personal failure which I have to remedy myself if I am unhappy with it.
