They knew what they were, they didn't try to control not only your language but your thoughts like modern troons n poons do. They were basically on our team and didn't bother anyone any more than gay/lesbian people already do by virtue of being gay.

They really shot themselves in the foot. 15 years ago barely anyone gave a shit or thought about it for longer than 10 seconds. Most people had a vague “live and let live” attitude about it. I had an online TIM friend in the late 2000’s, he wasn’t a complete pain in the ass, he “passed” pretty well and was clearly an effeminate gay guy. That was all I really knew about it.
