I didn't read the whole thing but oh my god how stupid can you be? She went to a strange man's "office" at his apartment and undressed for him and another man. Neither of whom she's ever met before!? This is creepy as fuck.

I worked for a talent agency that repped mainstream non-porn actors. In CA, at least at the time she's describing, any agent was supposed to have office premises with business office hours. There's a state law on the books, agents actually are not supposed to work from home. Managers? Yes. Agents? No. And they are all supposed to have a LICENSE clearly POSTED. ALL of this is a huge red flag. These guys are probably not properly licensed. You are supposed to have a license; the state investigates the applications and can turn you down. If you get turned down or your license is revoked, there's a cooling off period before you can reapply. She WENT BACK at THIRTY after knowing earlier how sketchy they were?

Anyone claiming to be a manager or agent should have a license they've posted, though. If you are trying to get into entertainment, don't work with an unlicensed agent or manager.

you're in luck, apparently there is a Licensed Adult Talent Agency Trade Association. but in general i'd be surprised if there was enough work for it to be worth it to be an agent or have one. even the top guys represent like a half dozen or a dozen clients and still don't make much of a living.
