Thats kinda unfair because Patrick and his 1.2 GPA are really dragging down the public school standardized tests. I think he tries to make up for this by creating pepperoni to keep those low performers away from testing

University of Wisconsin seems like a terrible school to go to that anyone can get into so makes sense why they'd let him in. Rick's cope is he never did homework but always aced tests but I know this is bullshit because I did that (actually did not always ace tests but did pretty well) and had better grades. They were in serious underachiever territory but nowhere as bad as Rick's. Frankly I'm surprised he wasn't in some kind of sped program with that and was allowed to pass at all.
I assume he was so much of an insufferable CHILD they just wanted to be rid of him.

Some of his classes sound like sped classes, especially the "Problem Solving" one. Preparing him well to go out there and solve literally none of his problems, ever. Maybe they spent that time teaching him how to make change. He ran the fake register so well they gave him AP credits, I guess.

I’ve seen it written that he wouldn’t have been allowed to graduate post-No Child Left Behind’s passage, which happened within a year or so of his graduation. I’m not so sure, as I think his mom (on staff at the high school) and the teachers were going to get that pain in the ass socially promoted and out of their hair no matter what. Federal laws wouldn’t even faze them.

this is actually not the issue with highly gifted children. The real issue is that these children get told that they are super duper smart instead of being told they are hard workers, this leaves them very unprepared for when they go off to college or a job and all their special honors status and awards from high school don't translate over.
Now why pat's mom confused him for one of the gifted children and told him he was super mega uber galaxy brained smart is beyond me but there it is.
