When they were arrested I think that April was looking to flip which is why the prosecution dropped her charges, that was until Nick wormed his way in and promised April he would divorce his wife once the legal business was finished, and then they would move in together next door to Juju's barbie dream shack in California. He also likely promised his wife that he'd get rid of the crack whore once she was no longer a threat to their family.

Something's happened though, either April or Kayla got suspicious and decided to press the issue and it looks like April got thrown overboard, perhaps because of Nick's parents dangling the trust fund in front of him and telling him "don't you fucking dare".
