For the benefit of the curious, what's your suicide method ranking? One gets the feeling you've seen most of the ways to go.

I've seen a lot of hangings and gunshot wounds. That's really an availability thing. Guns are pretty much lights out. Non-drop hangings seem slow.

Pills rarely work, we almost always get there in time to secure an airway and they aren't reliable.

Opioids are pretty effective because they depress breathing once you're unconscious and are pretty fast acting.

Jumpers usually underestimate how high you have to jump from and spend some time in abject deformity and agony before dying.

Jumping in front of a train is pretty effective, if messy. One dude, drunk not suicide, got his arm ripped off crossing the train tracks and just... walked home. PD only found him by following the blood. So take that for what it's worth.

Watched a dude jump in front of a truck on the highway. Caught it face first, so that worked pretty well, but seemed like a risky way to go about it.

I had one dude do the carbon monoxide way by running the car in his garage. Seems like it worked, but his 6 year old daughter found him, he almost killed his family with it, then I had to do CPR in front of his kids. Wouldn't recommend.

Truthfully, though, they're all horrible. If those people could ever see what kind of thermonuclear horror they were leaving for their loved ones I just can't imagine they'd do it. My advice? Get help and play it out.

Wasn't it proven that a bullet to the brain doesn't actually kill you immediately? I remember reading somewheres a while back about how you're still physically aware up to 10 hours depending on blood loss? Like, you're still experiencing everything raw and in slow motion as your body freaks out and slowly bleeds to death? Just without the ability to think or act?
