Did anybody else here ever play the SAMP server LSRP (Los Santos Roleplay)? So much ridiculous drama including all sorts of things. I suppose it's unlikely or some of it would have probably been mentioned here already, particularly an incident from 2014.

On another topic, I don't remember playing much of Vice City Stories but I recently discovered (or rediscovered, maybe) the Flashback FM radio station and not only is the music quite good (I would say much better than the Vice City equivalent of the same name, though Call Me by Go West is sadly missing from Stories), the DJ chatter is absolutely hilarious. Sad to think that the series will never have such humour again; I assume it has already been mentioned here countless times how they stripped 'transphobic' content from GTA 5 a few years ago.

No, I was a NGRP (Next Generation Role Play) sped and I stopped playing around 2012 or so.. NGRP had plenty of beef with everyone back in the day, I think most of it lapsed and most members migrated to Horizon RP. I'd love to hear some more, not sure how everyone else would feel though.

The myth community of GTA is dead thanks to datamining, the Internet, and clickbait. How exciting it must've been for SA to theorize that Bigfoot was roaming in the countryside? Especially since San Andreas was the biggest open world to date at the time?
Good riddance
"The myth community" is a bunch of retarded children and grifter ""content"" ""creators""

Oh, I remember NGRP. I messed around on it a few times but I never really got into it. It had a really high population and was the only real competition to LSRP in that regard, I think. It always felt so chaotic to me, but sometimes I liked that it was less 'stuffy' than LSRP. I wasn't aware NGRP had any drama at all, but then I didn't pay much or any attention to its forums.

It was fun to speculate about on forums back in the day right after SA's release but ultimately became fodder for YouTube clickbait. I was significantly younger then and spent hours in co-op multiplayer [the half-assed one on the PS2] with a friend scouring the map for Bigfoot, aliens, Leatherface, etc. It probably held a lot more mystique to people playing on consoles since you couldn't just go through the game files. Another fun time to be present on gaming forums was when the Hot Coffee shit happened with SA, that was quite a clusterfuck.

I literally couldn't play any GTA RP servers simply because they were all located in the US or EU and i'd have enough ping to be kicked out of the game. All the ones in my country sucked.

The myth that all my friends "totally saw!" was if you went into the Johnson House at a certain time of night you could see the Ghost of CJ's mom walk down the steps, blood trail following her.
It was total bullshit but it was fun to make shit up as 11-12 year olds. Just like saying Piggsy from Manhunt was somewhere in the game.

Those faggots weren't even born when the bigfoot hunt was on. Content creators weren't even a thing until ~2012, when GTAV hype was in motion.

We wuz tinfoil hatting on GameFAQs and Gamespot forums then and spending hours watching videos like this:

There were many forums and blogs detailing searchs for him, speculating his existence and often just trolling. I even recall a magazine talking about it and adding fuel to the myth.

It was a different time. We were all more naive, the Internet was more niche and seemingly nobody had the know-how or motivation to dig around the gamefiles and fully prove/disprove his existence. (Or maybe they did and nobody took notice). In any case it was a lot of fun. I used to look for him. Spooked the shit out of myself after finding the ghost car, a beat up Glendale that spawns on a hill and rolls down it, making it seem as though it's driving with nobody inside, spawns somewhere around here:

Unfortunately the ghost car and the chainsaw shack were the only real things of note out there.

I blame the normie-fication and subsequent whoring out of Youtube and videogames media in general.

I remember not believing in friends when they told me there was a ghost in GTA V because I remembered all the myths and shit from San Andreas, Vice City, and IV, so when I actually found this spooky bitch it freaked me out for a bit.

Yep. The Ghost of Mount Gordo; she's actually got a bit of backstory, for those that don't know:

The victim's name was (is?) Jolene Cranley-Evans, and she was the wife of the actor/stuntman-turned-politician Jock Cranley, whom some of you might recognize as the commentator for the Arena War. In the 1970s, when Jock and his wife were still living in Blaine County, he got a gig in Los Santos to become a stuntman; however, his wife disapproved of this, as they would have to move to Los Santos for the commute. In order to make sure he got the gig, Jock took his wife on a hiking trip up Mount Gordo, where he promptly pushed her off the cliff; the cops did arrest the guy, but he was able to get away with the murder due to a lack of evidence, and he was released immediately afterwards.

Couple of connected easter eggs in the game confirm it was a murder; for starters, that blood puddle that Jolene's floating over in the pic above? That's JOCK written in blood; if you approach her, Jolene will disappear and allow you to get a better look - identifying her murderer well after her death.

Also, there's a campsite down at the base of the mountain, normally occupied by several pedestrians; if you go down there at the correct time, around 4-5 AM or so, you'll hear her eventually falling and screaming all the way down.

It's also possible to hear the actual struggle between Jock and Jolene, with the latter begging the former not to kill her. Don't know how to trigger that dialogue, though; I think I heard it's supposed to play when you get near the ghost, but I don't know for sure.

Neat little easter egg, that's for certain.

Also, got a question for everyone; GTAV is going for pretty cheap right now on the PSN, only $9.99. Anyone think that's a decent price, or not?
