My wife's work just sent out a mass email telling people to not come in tonight, and apparently in my area people have started pulling their kids out of school for the rest of the week. I live in a mostly red area in a red state so I'm not sure what to think.
Some boomer County official has taken the meme about "shutting down the grid to steal the election" too seriously.

BBC are saying it's neck and neck. But they also say this:

Can we trust the polls?
The polls have underestimated support for Trump in the last two elections and the national polling error in 2020 was the highest in 40 years according to a post-mortem by polling experts - so there’s good reason to be cautious about them going into this year’s election.

The polling miss in 2016 was put down to voters changing their minds in the final days of the campaign and because college-educated voters - who were more likely to support Hillary Clinton - had been over-represented in polling samples.

In 2020, the experts pointed to problems with getting Trump supporters to take part in polls, but said it was “impossible” to know exactly what had caused the polling error, especially as the election was held during a pandemic and had a record turnout.

Pollsters have made lots of changes since then and the polling industry “had one of its most successful election cycles in US history” in the 2022 midterm elections, according to analysts at 538, external.

But Donald Trump wasn’t on the ballot in the midterms and we won’t know until after election day whether these changes can deal with the influx of irregular voters he tends to attract.
So basically they don't know shit because they only speak to fellow faggots.

My state is a foregone conclusion, but it was pretty nasty weather yet my local old people dressed up like they were going to war because voting is so important to them. Maybe itll keep some of the younger people home.
Whenever I go and visit family and friends it's like they're babbling their cult speak to each other
I know what you mean. My family are REALLY bad about "Trump is LITERALLY HITLER, he's going to round up the gays and KILL THEM because he needs to be in PRISON for the rest of his life" from watching too much MSBNC and the Rachel Reid Report. I don't think they could really tell you much about Kamala- I'm positive that I know more about her history and I don't really keep up with the news, but I doubt they've even looked at her Wikipedia page. They have normal political beliefs down in there somewhere, and I'm just not sure Kamala Harris is really a good fit for those beliefs, but it's totally repressed by fervant "Trump is Satan" programming. All they know is what the TV box and Facebook says, and just in the past year they've gotten so bad about turning EVERYTHING political because "It's everyone's duty to stop Evil Drumpf: if you aren't doing everything in your power to stop Trump, you are a NAZI RACIST who supports a RAPIST FELON!!!" My family openly says Trump's assasination attempts were all fake to get him attention- but that he should be shot dead for real because he IS the closest thing to Hitler since Hitler. They'll just bring this up at Walmart or during dinner, despite all my efforts to not talk politics. They were the people who championed so hard that Joe Biden was mentally fit until the narrative switched, and then they instantly pivoted to shilling Harris. It was upsetting to witness them acting like such total pawns, just waiting for the next update from Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Reid to know what to say and think.

I hope we get good lolcow reactions.

I realize this may sound unrealistic, but imagine if both parties embraced a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship instead of resorting to demonization. Unfortunately, this is just the nature of politics.

The libtard Jews and the conservatard Jews are surely being sportsmanlike to each other behind the scenes. If only us filthy goyim could be so civil.

These fuckers want my kids to die for Israel and become dependent on government. Fuck being civilized.

Bro, my grandparents are exactly the same way. I think it's really fucking gay. Like grandma let's just enjoy your delicious pot roast instead of the boomer politics hollering ritual. Please pass the mashed potatoes and that wonderful gravy.

It's extra frustrating because we as private ordinary citizens are objectively powerless against the great game of politics going on so it's retarded to get emotional about it. The elites will do what they will, let's spend our attention and energy on making ourselves more independent where we can and flexible where we can't. And let's enjoy the loving family we all share together.

Yeah some professors of mine don’t want to come in for classes tomorrow. Lolz. Nothing ever happens

i know I'm preaching to the choir here but heres to sending out positive vibes. I encourage everybody. Except maybe stupid/democrat leaners to vote. But in particular. Men of the US. Be a man, take charge and vote. Don't sit on your ass and let others dictate how the election turns out and then whine and complain how the world is against you. Be the master of your destiny.

Boomers seem to take things about the election too seriously in general.
Which is strange because they’ve lived through how many elections where nothing ever happens?

This will probably be another case. Nobody at the top or bottom want to ruffle any feathers because we still have a pretty good thing going….for most.

And politically charged violence or general mayhem is actually amazingly rare the past several decades. Some people always get punched the in the face around Election Day. That’s unavoidable. But in 1973 alone, the days of rage, almost 300 bombs were found or exploded at various private and public buildings. Today? Zilch.

I truly don't understand how people lose all their critical thinking skills over time. My dad isn't like this over politics, but he sure believed everything the tv box says about covid vaccines uncritically.

This is the only attitude that will prevent you from becoming deeply unhappy in Current Times. Well said.
