The DNC's problem is simply gross corruption at every level. Trump came in on a populist chariot to oust the corrupt aging RINO's, which has done wonders for the party by bringing in fresh new blood and general heightened enthusiasm and focus from their base.

The DNC's corruption is built into their very party structure though. From primaries to general elections to congress to the president, its very hard for a "left-wing" Trump to ever appear and even harder for them to gain traction. Their reliance on multiple competing voting blocs rather than one solid core like the Republican's also means their party is never fully unified and constantly infighting over their pet blocs. Not to mention their base voters always being at each others throats.

I wouldn't be surprised if this election cycle finally kicked them in the gonads to change direction since no one likes to lose constantly. but I also wouldn't be surprised if they simply keep the same failing course due to the gross corruption keeping the "problems" in power.

I said before this election that the Democrats had the weakest electoral coalition ever. You're mixing suburban voters, with coastal elites, and blacks who barely vote and are socially conservative. You can't appease any of those groups without alienating the other.
