On Ukraine’s front and in Kyiv, hope and pragmatism compete when it comes to Trump’s election

Soldiers in a Ukrainian artillery battery on the front lines of the country’s east were only vaguely aware of American election results pointing to Donald Trump’s victory Wednesday — but firm in their hopes for the next president of the United States.

Their entrenched artillery battery fires on Russian forces daily — and takes fire nearly as often. Just the other day, one of their overhead nets snared a Russian drone.

“I hope that the quantity of weapons, the quantity of guns for our victory will increase,” the unit’s 39-year-old commander, who goes by the name Mozart, said in the hours before Trump’s win was confirmed. “We don’t care who is the president, as long as they don’t cut us off from help, because we need it.”

Though Trump’s election throws into doubt American support for Ukraine — and ultimately whether Kyiv can beat back Russia’s invasion — the soldiers who use their Starlink connection to the internet sparingly learned of the results from Associated Press journalists.

I think the bigger impact from COVID is that everyone became terminally online and made the mistake of thinking that the internet represents reality when it is really just a representation of reality. And that representation of reality depends what you follow and where you hang out. Most people do not venture out of their comfort zone online.
The flipside of this is K-12 remote learning and a lot of parents getting a very rude awakening

So why would I encourage anyone to join this political melee? Because America needs principled conservatives in this administration — not as a “deep state” but as a conscience.
Shut the fuck up swamp creature.

Opinion: I Quit the First Trump Administration. Principled People Must Serve in the Second.

So, left-wing Jan 6 when?
The left doesn’t really exist in a large enough number like that. Unless you mean Feds and literal mercenaries then sure they can make a spectacle that makes it seem like they are organized and coordinated and motivated….

But they simply are not.

The tiktok oversharers are in shambles right now

Ma'am, you have several prominent shite tattoos including one on your face, which tells me two things,

1. You don't make responsible life decisions.

2. Even if your team HAD won today, you'd still be having this level of performative emotional outburst on tiktok for attention but at a minimum wage Starbucks employee because they'd run out of pumpkin spice syrup.

I still haven’t seen a good explanation of why the Democrats failed to rig it this time.

They had the White House. They had MORE power than they had in 2020. And yet the election was called for Trump very quickly.
I think Biden mustered the entirety of his decades long political capital behind the scenes to stab that bitch in the back and make sure she lost. I'd be willing to bet he went up against at least a few DNC kingmakers to sabotage Kamala and get revenge. Wouldn't surprise me if one of those people was Obama.

His debate with Trump showed what everyone with eyes knew from day one -- his brain is mashed potatoes. However people with dementia or alzheimers do have moments of lucidity where their mental decline seemingly poofs out of existence for a brief time and they're their old self again.
If you watch some of Terry Davis' old archived videos you can sometimes see this happen to him. His quote about the bird looking at a computer screen comes to mind.
I believe during his moments of lucidity that he understood perfectly what they had done to him with their palace coup and decided then and there "You are fucking done you cunt."

This was certainly Jill's position, and for once I don't think she had to whisper in his ear what to think about what was happening around him. Those memes with Joe on the phone saying "turn off the rigging" may be more true than we know. In 15-20 years we'll probably get it in writing.

Woke up just as it was being called for Trump and got to watch his acceptance speech last night with his family on stage.
I fell back asleep so damn fast, knowing all would be well when I awoke.

Feeling good today fam. Optimism has returned; hope, rekindled.
Now let's go mine some salt and revel in the tears of our opponents!

Trump is likely going to want the war to end and be willing to play ball with Putin to make that happen. Rather than support the NATO part. Question is if he can bring the American Warmongers to heel on it.

To some extent I would argue Trump having so many good memorable moments that broke into the main stream like the McDonald's stunt had the effect of shielding Kamala from her own fuck ups.
Yeah, and Trump has always dominated in that regard. When liberals say most Americans are low information voters, they're correct in the sense that most Americans will only see the candidates at their conventions, the debates, a few photo ops, and if somebody tries to assassinate them.

Somebody said it earlier, there's no word to describe this than real. You can't meme or artifice or wonk this kind of thing into existence. Even Kamala Harris would have known that all the PR and policy in the world couldn't have done anything compared a moment like this.
