Post videos of people dying - Self explanatory really

I've seen the argument that watching these videos is a reminder of the fragility of life and how at any moment you are one unfortunate event from dying.

The children videos are a lesson in parenting in my opinion. Maybe don't let your kids play unsupervised on the balcony. Maybe don't let your kid go swimming unsupervised or supervised by someone who also can't swim. Maybe teach your kids to hold your hand while crossing the street and not to run out into traffic.

The children dying are a lesson that children's lives are even more fragile than ours and without an adult's protection any number of horrible things could go wrong.

People dying are people dying.

We can certainly deplore these deaths of children as they are posted, and anyone who posts that they get enjoyment from seeing kids killed should be doxed and mocked until they take the Ronnie McNutt cure for their ills, but they are still 'people dying' and there's no reason to ban such videos.

How many people have actually seen a child drown and know what it looks like? Without these videos, I wouldn't have a clue. No parent wants to lose their child, but there's an assumption that drowning will involve a lot of splashing and noise.

These videos show that a two minute break to write a post on KiwiFarms is enough time to put your child in serious danger.

Fucking 'ban the videos' bullshit. Ban yourself from this thread if it's so important.

Those are both fair points, I concede the argument. I find it distasteful in a primal reaction kind of way, but the topic is what is is.

Agree. You better not give off a whiff of this coming from your coom stash, and you won't be subject to ridicule and mockery. Maybe a slight suspicious eye, but I won't be casting that stone from my crystal condominium.

Again, nobody has said ban the videos. The "no animal gore" is a Null rule too, otherwise that would still be posted. We're all arguing a non issue.
not enjoying != ban it

now thread tax to bring it back on topic

Right! Thanks to this thread I can better spot a drowning child and will leave an adult to drown.

The one video of a kid that's really depressing has to be the toddler hit by a falling tree.
Fresh from A&H, a fatal lightning strike in Peru. Only the man struck directly was killed, though a few others nearby were knocked out and suffered burns.

Guess god was rooting for the other team.
Nah. Cultural Revolution didn't erase that. That's been built into Chinese genetics since their founding. Taipei Rebellion? 30-40 million dead, all because a guy thought he was the reincarnation of Jesus. You had Emperors overthrown by peasant generals who later killed the starving populace - if they didn't already eat each other.

China has always been filled with bugmen who thought foot binding was hot and that mass starvation was part and parcel of their life. Fun fact: the communists could not kill every notable family/clan, and said clans still exist today and make up the majority of businessmen. Long game, bro. China may not have as many peasants but even in the West they'll stand there and watch you get stabbed without reacting.

There was one incident where, after besieging the city, they made the women come out after the city was starved. They then ate them. And made the survivors watch.
I get your point but I'm talking stuff that happened in living memory, chinese boomers and genX grew up during that and it clearly fucked them up as the younger chinese I seen are less brutish and inconsiderate of others.
Holy shit that was intentional! Why would you want to kill yourself like that!? Was the classic train option not available?
Did you even read the link?
The event took place on Friday, November 1, around 4 PM, and the deceased has been identified as Shabarish. Reports indicate that his friends had dared him to sit on the box of firecrackers, promising to buy him an autorickshaw if he succeeded.

There's something odd about all the videos coming out of China on DVR systems. They can rig an indoor DVR system but installing quality locks to keep the neighborhood psycho from murdering your kids is to burdensome? Put a DVR cam on the balcony but no child proof railing? DVR watching the pool but no child proof locks on the sliding door? Starting to realize there might be something to the "bugmen" concept I always thought was just a running joke. Just wondering, do they have life insurance policy's on children in China? Is that legal there?

I usually skip the children dying videos. I come here for the pure hubris leading to death and Darwinism. The Pajeet VS Electricity videos always crack me up.

I kind of assumed that some degree of nihilism was the norm is kind of normal, over there

This is what happens when the state essentially bans spirituality. Confucianism isn't really a religion, it's more of a social ideology that has been twisted by The Party into a worship of its bureaucracy. All other religion is suppressed. Spiritual belief is meant to be replaced by the State and the Party ("Communist" China much more closely resembles fascism in this and other respects), but the Party is corrupt from top to bottom and everyone knows it. You are just one among a billion others. Your rulers are as apathetic as you are. If you live in a rural shithole, the best you can aspire to is life in an urban shithole instead, and if you're in the urban shithole you have it as good as it gets, and it's still shit and everyone knows it. The State's ridiculous economic Ponzi schemes have stolen all your savings. Life begins to lose all meaning, at which point it becomes cheap. Dealing with joyless oppression from a totalitarian government leads to apathy, nihilism and a sort of mass depression. Who cares if your child dies? At least they're spared the joyless, hopeless drudgery that is life with no freedom and no hope. Medieval peasants had more freedom and joy in their lives than the luckless inmates of modern-day China.

"Give me liberty or give me death" isn't just a political slogan, it's the heart of the human spirit. Without hope for something better, be it on this Earth or beyond it, you see death with a shrug. Under those circumstances, it's no worse than life.

Sorry I'm a bit high.

Sorry to politi-sperg. Red China, Mao's China, they promoted Confucius? I was not aware of this. I always took a few words of wisdom from Confucius in my life. "Hope for the best prepare for the worst" is something I've lived my life by and saved me from tragedy at least once.

As a younger man I thought commies and socialist "pinkos" as my Grandad used to call them were just naive stupid and lazy at worst. I got older started reading into deeper world history outside my native country outside of a public education institution, where somehow the commies and socialists like Che Guevara are rarely spoken about negatively, funny how that works... Point being I realized only during independent thought/research why we had to shoot so many of them and probably didn't shoot enough.

Fucking with Confucius to twist his words into useful slogans and ideas for the current Dynasty has been a thing in China for millennia. There is also the aspect of Legalism which is a similar but competing chinese ideology / school of thought which ended up being mixed up and combined for purposes of making things easier for people in power but also the passage of time. The CCP very much gives off vibes of pretending to pay lip service to Confucianism while in fact being the most hardcore Legalists since Qin Shi Huang. It's honestly all very complicated for a westerner to understand, loads of cultural baggage that needs to be unpacked.

It's not really that surprising. The concern about the child related content on gore sites is that they worry about people intentionally taking advantage of children just for easy clicks.

Sometimes it's obvious freak accidents, but just giving feral children full access to a clandestine swimming pool? With the security camera just free recording but no one responding to the video? Uhh... hard to call that one an accident.
