True, the only knowledge of Immigration I have is from my neighbor getting his green card/Naturalization back in the day. As for the politicians I am not saying their calls hold weight that anyone else wouldn't have, I am saying that they (HomeSec, ICE, Border Patrol, Sheriff's Dept, etc.) will get so many calls from so many people that they may just wash their hands of the whole thing as a public relations disaster. Admittedly, again, I have a very limited idea of what goes on in immigration cases. It just seems logical to think that they will err on the side of caution and go with the most positive of the outcomes, so they won't have to deal with the public relations disaster that the Greta/Nina episode will bring. Most especially since they have to deal with the cases like Miguel Angel Villasenor-Saucedo and Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, they will want to get rid of cases they consider small fries, which is what Nina's case is.
Ehh. I don't know, does that make sense?
See they don't look at cases as small fries, ICE/Immigration is a towering wall of bullshit that doesn't care about details and specifics, just paperwork. I didn't even know who Miguel or Juan were (I knew about the cases but didn't remember their names) but it's cases like that that make them clamp down on everyone, not make exceptions. Given the size of the system and how many people are in it, details, specifics, good behavior, etc.. don't mean fuck all to ICE. (Now later on before an actual human immigration judge it might help, but not with ICE)
Just think of interacting with ICE as some massive redeneck 1984 HAL2000 with anger issues and immunity to all reason - that's the best way to describe it. Actual NCIS (immigration and immigration court) can be a bit better, but that shit is a long way off for Nina, she first has to deal with ICE. She fucked up, she got caught by ICE it was the worst thing that could have happened. Keeping things only on the NCIS side is vital because once ICE comes into play it's super hardball time.
