wtf I love zoomers now?!
Personally, it's pretty boring but I'm mostly just looking forward to gas and groceries coming down in price. I legit just saw a carton of eggs that were 70¢ per egg. Granted it was at a "health" food store but that is insanity to me.
Give me back my 80¢ sale eggs dammit!
I'm also intrigued by Joel Salatin as an advisor for the USDA. I wonder how his techniques will scale. Or is the aim to encourage more smaller scale farms focused on regenerative agriculture? Break up big ag in favor of more diversified farming, perhaps.
Either way, I know a lot of farmers have been hurting because the Russo-Ukraine war caused fertilizer materials to soar in cost by like 1000x normal or something because most of it comes from Ukraine or somewhere around there.
The alternative to that is regenerative agriculture (manure, bone meal, etc) but if you're a farm with razor thin profit margin it's not plausible to implement without resources or support. You have to make the switch while not sacrificing any yield in meat or crops and that takes specialized knowledge and skill.
Encouraging regenerative agriculture and providing education, resources, etc can help with the net resiliency and independence of farms in the US. Plus it's good for the soil... better quality meat too. Chicken raised with access to bugs and sunlight taste the best.
I read his book like 10 years ago and thought it was pretty neat at the time.
He's also anti-forced veganism due to it being bad for the environment and not particularly scaleable which would be a nice perspective at the USDA. Most are vegan zealots and WEF shills hence why meat and saturated fat are so demonized despite the shit quality "evidence" supporting it.
I'm actually starting to feel hopeful about the future of the US and food quality. Especially since RFK Jr said Trump gave him a 2 year deadline to show demonstratable improvement in the chronic disease epidemic in children. Not just enforcing guidelines which may or may not work. Actual results.
