  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
I'm really proud of myself. For the first time in a long time I got a good idea and I just painted it. I painted this with sharpies and hilighters on paper with pencil sketching. The Mary figure is a little too big and the Jesus one is a little too small... the mechanics of that honestly bemuse me, it'd be pretty difficult for a smaller, older lady to hold a larger, younger man in this position, don't y'all think? IK the point is that she's holding him like she did as a baby but my inclination kept being to sketch Jesus in the size of a child or a baby. It was a challenge in perspective.

This thing is BIG. It's 25"x27.5". As you can see, it's a pieta, but I've sort of put my own twist on it. Technically it's an Easter picture, because the iconography of the Cavalry scene on the left, not to mention the subject, depicts the dead Christ, but the tomb on the right and the three Tudor roses symbolize the risen Christ. Mary's halo depicts the visible planets and stars in their courses. Jesus' halo is meant to be more of a riff on martyrdom with a border of thorns.

The original is going to live in the church haunt, which this year I've done up to look like a secret Roman catacomb church. I need to make one more painting for this and I'm considering the martyrdom of St. Stephen, but that seems really violent. (for y'all who don't know: Saint Stephen was stoned to death while he prayed for the forgiveness of his killers. So most pictures are like, a guy on his knees in prayer with an expression of fear and alarm while a bunch of angry men standing tall are about to hurl heavy rocks on him.)

I still need to do one more canvas of the same size. Do you have any other suggestions? (Besides "eating butt" or "human centipede", please, this is a family haunt.)

Looks decent.

- Mary's halo looks like the underside of a sombrero.

- "INRI" is classier than "the king of the Jews". It's short enough to be picture-y instead of wordsy.

- The earth should be more golden than verdant. If you want to keep the planets motif, you could add their courses over her head like concentric halos. The sky could be darker to show them, and there was darkness at the crucifixion anyway.

- Jesus' halo is too busy. It looks like a targeting reticle.

- Tudor roses specifically don't belong in iconography imho.

Whether we think that or not, it comes straight from the gospel accounts, a two thousand year old historical record.
Yeah but it's self-reported and later Christian reported (propaganda), basically. It essentially requires faith to believe that Jesus had such a role. And Jews don't really appreciate being told who is the Messiah and that their salvation requires belief in Jesus, which would transform them from Jews into Christians, or more accurate from Judaism to Christianity.
Also, if an evil anti-Semite like myself would be careful to not use that phrase with Jewish people, I would expect a devout philo-Semite like Marge to be at least similarly careful to not offend.

Every NT author was a Jew. No one questions the historicity of Alexander the Great's biography, and we have only a handful of manuscripts and they're all from a few centuries after his death. Jesus is a much more documented historical figure. It's also impractical to alter the claim of a two thousand year old document for the modern sensibility of anti-Semitism.
And Jews don't really appreciate being told who is the Messiah and that their salvation requires belief in Jesus, which would transform them from Jews into Christians, or more accurate from Judaism to Christianity.
The fact that Christianity sprang from Judaism isn't anti-Semitic. Of course they're going to believe Jesus is the Christ; it's in the name. If this painting hangs at a church function it's not telling Jews anything; it's a depiction of that faith's beliefs, at their house of worship, at their social function. As for offensive, the Talmud says the Christian's Messiah is in a pit of boiling excrement in Hell.

That King of the Jews thing is anti-Semitic AF
IMO the "King of the Jews" Inscription is basically Pilate being snarky and throwing shade at the Pharisees for what seemed to him like a state-sanctioned killing to benefit them.

Jesus: JFK: Reloaded

So Marge.
How have you been?
Did you see Ana Kasparian "leaving the left"?
Have you considered doing the same? Imagine how much it would benefit your son and husband if you no longer were an active participant in hatred of their sex.

Jesus in a 3 way with Lazarus' sisters.

Yeah, duh? Is there another interpretation of that?

But if you want a serious suggestion and you want to push yourself, you should do the mob choosing Barabbas over Jesus.

The best Anti-Semitic passage is Matthew 27:24-25.

There's not much about Jesus the Jews appreciated. Hence the whole crucifixion thing. The best way to show your love for Jews and the Jewish religion is to deny...oh, right.

Who is "they"?!?
Qui?
QUI?
QUI?!??!!???!!!!
The Sadducees, who Rome placed in charge of the Temple. Pilate's courtyard "the pavement" could hold about 200 people max, thus very few people called down this perdition upon themselves. It was the Sadducees, the corrupt Temple leadership who wanted to preserve their power and money.

Have you considered the martyrdom of St. Telemachus? He was also stoned to death, but in a colosseum. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will do great.

I am OK. I deregistered from the Democratic Party like a year ago... had to have an argument with my mom about why I wasn't gonna vote Harris. I had a Trump sign in my front lawn FWIW. There are... many reasons I had to favor him.

??? I appreciate Jews the way I appreciate gold star lesbians... I admire them knowing I could never *be* one of them, and I know that cause I tried and failed, but I still respect what they do.

Hey @Stan, I've said a prayer for you every now and again. I sincerely hope you're doing well.
Shalom, baruch hashem.
I say a prayer for you every now and again too. Just that you find some hope.

You mean one primary reason. Or maybe two. Trannies and Jews.
Damn you guys go from one extreme to the other but that's enough election interference from me!
Will you choose to share what your family, friends, church etc. thought about your move? Were you bullied? Obviously, anything that can be shared without being too personal.
How are other women, particularly those with big concerns about abortion and pussy grabbing felt about this?

Political lesbianism can't be that hard how did you fail at being a rug muncher? All you gotta do is juggle sex toys and commit a domestic every few weeks.

It was a few, I will list them chronologically
1. Biden's absolutely horrible debate performance like OMG WTF
2. Non-democratic Nomination of Harris
3. RFK Jr. endorsement of Trump
4. Feeling as if I wasn't allowed to vote for the guy I supported in the primary, and that Biden's faculties & abilities had been misrepresented to me, and touched by Kennedy's remarks, and then moved by Trump's pro-crypto, anti-troon platform...
5. > vote Tromp

And yes my mom was shocked and appalled, I put up a yard sign on the street and I was told by dear husband to take it down right after election day, and everyone in my church is acting like 9/11 happened again.

...nah, that's not what I mean at all..

1. Biden's absolutely horrible debate performance like OMG WTF
Beats me how you were surprised, his dementia and age were pretty well documented and not new at all, although it got worse.
I said a few times before, his handlers, family etc. should face prosecution for elderly abuse and he should be in some sanatorium somewhere in some beautiful mountains to relax and reminisce about his life.
2. Non-democratic Nomination of Harris
Expected. DNC is a private corpo, they do what they want, and they have no obligation to act democratically - I think?
Biden did not really face primary challenges either. So it is all about whatever keeps the Democratic elites stable. They're not really good at it though and instead they created instability.
3. RFK Jr. endorsement of Trump
Was that a good thing? The only thing I appreciate about that guy is him working out at his age. Each time he had to explain his Israel stance, even to a Jew like Glenn Greenwald, he completely went off the rails and starting to babble quite angrily. Weird shit.
4. Feeling as if I wasn't allowed to vote for the guy I supported in the primary, and that Biden's faculties & abilities had been misrepresented to me, and touched by Kennedy's remarks, and then moved by Trump's pro-crypto, anti-troon platform...
Damn, crypto-sis now? What did you do, invest in Bitcoin? lmao
Next you'll tell me you had a GPU farm and mined the shit out of it in 2018 or something.
How did you not see the Biden brain mush? It was common knowledge and not a chud "conspiracy" like Dems always tried to make it into. We have a thing called observable reality. If you cannot make sense when you speak and do weird shit, and it just happens to coincide with advanced age, and you show progressive decline, hey. Might be your brain just slowly turning off. Not bad, expected, sad, but such is life. Still, you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near power. Trump's better, but his time's short too.
You supported RFK Jr.?
With his weird medical stances?
Damn girl.
5. > vote Tromp
lol
You don't need to elaborate or explain yourself. I'll just snicker a bit about it and that would be it.
Weird realignment shit. Very skeptical of it, I might lol at libs suffering, but overall I cannot consider this an actual improvement. Maybe I am wrong. We'll see!
Can you imagine, if Dems lost a devout progressive like you. It kinda starts to explain the complete disaster Kammie experienced.

I honestly knew about this as early as 2020 when I was telling people that Biden was less compos mentis than Bernie and I thought he had memory problems then. But you get the candidate you get and I'm inclined to give the recommended candidate a bit a of good will.
Damn, crypto-sis now? What did you do, invest in Bitcoin? lmao
... and ETH and DOGE... I'm not supposed to talk about it. But it's a big deal to our family.

Something like that.

Naw I saw it as early as 2020 but the Democrats had decided that Mr. Gaffe Machine had waited in line long enough to be their nominee.
You supported RFK Jr.?
With his weird medical stances?
Damn girl.
RFK Jr. is the reason I was able to row the Hudson River Sound 6x wk in 2011-2012 without dying of some weird exogenic toxicity. YES I had cold and flu sx often cause of normal infectious process but within regional politics, RFK Jr. is the reason the Hudson is clean-ish nowadays. People like me who depended on that remember it.
