Boogie fucked up by directly daring Frank to come over imo. I've always gone easiest on him for that, and it was still really bad what he did. He certainly shouldn't have fired though, that was his second fuck up. But uninvited people on your property.. You should be able display (not use) deadly force in order to get rid of them. Depending on cops is not always a good idea. Just my IMO.

There is a line beyond someone knocking on your door and then you telling them you're armed and to leave and they don't.

That's not what happened in this situation obviously, but that's my opinion on it. And that varies by state law too, some at night you're ok doing it over almost anything. Check local laws as always. Even if it's 'legal' you are risking getting arrested for sure. It's not a black and white thing to me.

What you are missing is these are the individuals that are already in that area winning elections. Sure the seat is immediately a "safe" pick, but now they might not resonate as a true incumbent that they elected in before. This is specially true in an area where the race might have been close. Now you have some new guy no one voted for at all last time, theres less gumption to try to keep him in office as there was when they originally got the vote.

ETA: At re-election time the next time the seat is open. It wont be the person who already won that Trump took for his cabinet.
