Things have updated with one seat to win left (Calvert won CA-41) but now CA-45 looks like it's about to flip with Tran just less than 400 votes away. Of the five votes remaining, Republicans have to win just one, Democrats have to flip all five (even if CA-45 is a lost cause).

AK-1: Just 28k votes to go. Peltola's win last time around was only because for Begich voters, people would've had her before Palin. The first round, there were more Palin + Begich voters than Peltola, and the Alaskan Independence Party seems like it would lean Begich in a second choice due to that party's choice aligning more Republican.

AZ-6: Ciscomani leads by around 7k votes. Not a majority but Arizona rules dictate the winner doesn't need them.

CA-13: Duarte leads by around 4k votes but time for shenanigans can go underway.

CA-45: Less than 400 votes in the lead. Probably a lost cause with California "curing" and mail-ins.

IO-1: I trust Iowa a lot more than California but 800 votes remain that could easily go either way. The results are expected tonight.

Enough bullshit exists for Democrats to take all five but they'd still have a razor-edge majority.

It's not just Europe, it's the entire western world. US politics is mainly covered and talked about in a completely biased way, with with various narratives spoken about as absolute fact. So the average person doesn't question them and is never exposed to anything different. They then see themselves as on the level of the enlightened East and West Coast liberals, unlike the dumb red neck rural Americans who they look down on as backwards people voting against their own interests.

When they discuss this biased view, they have absolute certainty because they're never exposed to anything that questions it. Or they're predisposition that anything contrary is lies from Fox News. It's all hard truth to them. As true as the sky is blue. So much so, if they ever do discuss it with an American, they'll end up lecturing them about America and disputing what the American says about their country.

The irony is that Russians and Chinese people usually have a higher opinion of America than Europeans do, despite being supposed adversaries. And vice-versa. Americans take China or Russia seriously (even if it is as a threat) in a way they never will Germany, France, the UK etc.

A good number of legal immigrants do feel this way. Someone I've known for years chose to became a citizen and jumped through all the hoops to do so legally. He'd likely admit it was a case study in governmental red tape but that it was worth it. When all this border shit first started, he made it clear he had no use for anyone who came to the US illegally and got a bottomless supply of handouts. Unfortunately, people such as him speaking up seem to be in the minority for whatever reasons - whether it's apathy, fear of cancel culture, or something else.

All sorts of governmental entities and legislation have creative acronyms or use them to name legislation. I believe there use to be a Committee to Re-Elect the President (CREEP) at one point, for example. With all the seriousness of politics, we could use some light-hearted fun moments.
