Louisiana still has laws on the books with a potential statutory maximum of 20 years for simple possession of any amount, going up to life for a third strike. I doubt anyone actually gets this but it's possible.
I know I was hyperbolic. And you have to do a bit more than get high off spiderman's girlfriend. But drug charges still have a mandatory minimum of 5 years depending on the state. My point was a lot of heinous crimes will have people serve little to no time for. But crimes nobody really cares about will be ridiculously long.
