Hell of a Vindication: The Rich Kyanka Story

The more time passes, the more I'm convinced there was nothing special or even all that interesting about Lowtax. He was just some loser who drew a golden ticket and couldn't handle his shit. That's such a boring story even for a tragedy.

I heard Baltimora earlier, and had recall of that guy who claimed to be the son of the lead singer who got really wasted and couldn't realize that he was having sex with a woman.
The original thread had goons getting Very Serious about adoption trauma and what makes someone your real dad, it was pretty great.

A lot of internet 1.0 was just being the first one there and Lowtax definitely fits within that category. Some were smart enough to cash out at the right time, like Eric Bauman, others died broke after hiring tranny prostitutes to shit on their table, like Richard Kyanka.

I said in the OP that Lowtax only ever had one good idea and he had it by mistake. Charging $10 to post on a forum gatekept the children and trolls out of SA, creating a unique posting environment where people could actually talk to each other without 13-year-olds spamming gore every other post. But he didn't do it to make money, he did it so that he didn't have to spend so much time banning spambots and idiot teenagers. Essentially he did it out of laziness and lucked out into creating the best place to be on the web in 2000. It was a monster he created, but was never really able to control, much to his frustration and rage.

That was the last good decision he ever made. Pretty much every decision he made for the next 19 years ran the gamut from "dumb" to "apocalyptically catastrophically retarded".

It was mostly really just laziness and letting it get taken over by shitmods to the point it's what it is now. Shit like aatrek being kept on as a mod was really just the harbinger of things to come.
