Technology gave the west the edge in surveillance and weapons, but they are failing to recruit enough troops to do both the front line and mundane activities (one reason why the US has been using "contractors" for logistics and back-end support)

While I can see them doing that, Trump can wholly blame WWIII on the establishment and use it as an excuse to fully remove ith from power. Plus if people have to choose between supporting Ukraine and not being bombed in their home cities they will sufficiently support Trump signing a peace treaty that gives Russia full control over Ukraine.

Trump's base has never been angry since Jan 6. Riling them up with a war while they have the support of leadership would completely eradicate ESG nonsense.

To be optimistic, Biden escalating this further to WW3 may end up being a good thing.... if it doesn't lead to WW3.

It might provide an off ramp as the risk is now too high and so a peace deal that currently wouldn't be considered palatable is seen as acceptable. Or nuclear annihilation.
