One Piece - I'm Gonna Be the Pirate King!

Hot take: Luffy will be the first one to put things together, and have to explain it to the rest of the crew, because Joyboy had the exact same weird mentality as Luffy (and Roger).
If that’s the case, then I’d have to wager it involves 1. Something that sounds like what Luffy would say and/or do (like how the “funny story” was how Joy Boy was able to outsmart the World Government and Imu), 2. The “funny story” is basically an expanded version of the song “Binks’ Sake” and the treasure is related to it, or 3. It relates to something he learned as a result from training with Rayleigh during the timeskip.

I’m banking on “more than he lets on”. Except Oda is holding off on revealing what he does know because I guess it could be endgame material, or it really connects to Luffy in a major way. Probably both.
i just wanna know what shanks plan for nika fruit was had luffy not eaten it. was he planning on eating it himself? or giving it to someone else?

From what people here are saying, the idea was to have it where it was given to Ace, Roger’s son. That or he’d find some apprentice and give the fruit to that apprentice. Or he’d sail the seas for the one he felt was worthy.

Or he’d just sell it and make bank like Buggy would do.

TBH, the real question is “why’d he take the fruit for himself in the first place?” I have to think the guy had a reason for doing it, but again, we may have to wait for the endgame.

I’m betting on this. And I really hope Oda goes full in on it and has Luffy do the flashback of the Void in a very Luffy/Nikka fashion.

I think this is very possible.

I think we are gonna get two flashbacks for Joyboy kind of like we are for Roger. One where the serious half of the story is told..then the other when we get to Laugh Tale where Luffy tells us the punchline.

The real question is if Trump would recognize the majesty of General Franky™️while enjoying some Diet Coke ™️ with Franky, the only canonically American Straw Hat.

Robin would of course ask Trump to see the hidden documents like the Russian agent she is.

That’s the best of my autism. I find the “fictional characters would hate X” to be fucking retarded.

I do want fan art of Trump serving the Straw Hats fast food like the NCAA champs with Sanji pouting in the corner or being too distracted by the zog chow to properly flirt with Melania/ the press secretary Trump is pushing for.
That’s the kind of autism I can enjoy. I feel like I could generate that with AI.

, ironically. Bush jr. just paints now and stays out of politics.
He also missed out on social networks taking off. Imagine the memes.

Also, funny how Obama is Kuzan…who joined up with Blackbeard after not getting a promotion.

I mean the entire flashback would be drawn as if it was Loony Toons.
If that’s the case, may God have mercy on the Toei animators.

Considering the flashback at Egghead…it’s possible. But I really think Oda wants to tell it all at once. Again, nothing to be revealed before Luffy learns about it. That’s the rule I’m assuming he’s going with.

screw future manga chapters, let's go backwards and read past releases

even if the original Japanese release didn't include Romance Dawn V1 they should've thrown it (and Chapter 0 as a bonus) in this release, since the only way (that I know of) you get a hard copy of those two in official English is shelling out for those box sets (and those selling the bonus booklets separate are dirty, filthy scalpers).

its possible that shanks was playing the waiting game the whole time knowing that if he just waited long enough sooner or later someone would make it to him and he could just defeat them to get everything he needed for the final island. that or he knows more than he lets on.
I believe Shanks is less an opportunist and more a "custodian" of sorts to Laugh Tale. He may not have gone, but I do think he got enough details from the rest of the crew to have a decent grasp of what might be there and more importantly, why "Roger did not come at the right time". Basically, if Buggy remained a coward and Luffy decided to play with a territory of his own instead of going for the One Piece, Shanks would have remained passive.

Hell, in the battle to obtain Road Phoneglyphs, the Mugis and Blackbeard are doing well for themselves, but as far as we know, Shanks and Buggy have jackshit, so I can see them knowing enough that they don't actually need the Road Phoneglyphs to know what to do.
I mean, that's great, but what is actually wrong with him?

That’s what I’ve settled on as well. If anything, it explains why he hasn’t gone to see Luffy after all this time.

I don’t think it’s ever been said. But considering Oda is pushing 50, and Kentaro Miura died at 54, and Akira Toriyama died at 68, I have to wonder if we should start fearing the worst soon.

Also, for all the talk of Hirohiko Araki being immortal, the dude is only 64 years old.

Miura was cripplingly unhealthy and worked himself to death and Toriyama straight up had an accudent that led to his death.

If anything the authors wanting to make sure we know they are fine as a result is having the opposite effect.

What’s wrong with him? Nothing if people are honest. He just works himself to death because he likes it. If he wasn’t forced to take breaks, he wouldn’t. And now every time he is people think he’s dying.
