General Wrestling Discussion

Wanted to make this question/mini-debate since a while but I always forgot about it but I think this is the proper time.

What are your opinions on this legendary podcast episode, having the power of retrospective now? And what do you think of Punk during his thoughts in this time? Do you think he was justified in voicing all of his frustrations on the company?

My only complaint with the series is some of the running "jokes" don't land for me and he proceeds to run it into the fucking ground, like the whole Steve Blackman/Robot monster bullshit is pure cringe and I wish he would stop. Just like Steve Blackman, that shit is not over
I also disagree with his complaints about RAW and Nitro having too many DQ finishes for main events. The big names didn't need to be doing jobs on TV every week. As long as PPV matches didn't have too many bullshit finishes I never cared. RAW and Nitro were just setting up every monthly PPV anyway.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, NXT's problem is one that plagues the indies. Most Black wrestlers lack a gimmick that isn't well, being a Black stereotype. None of them seemingly want to risk a gimmick that presents them weak, uncool etc. and so most of the names in NXT are alike. Jevon Evans is just Wes Lee from a year ago, happy flippy shitter. Trick's entire crutch is he uses slang against his White foes. Tavion Heights is the only one I like in NXT because he is apart of a very experimental stable, and has a genuine athletic background; allowing for more comedy to emerge in segments backstage. Basically Bron but not a manlet

Is Oba Femi's gimmick a black stereotype even though he's from Nigeria?

the shit Trick does is getting him over,so I don't have any qualms, plus he's physically a big guy in the vein of Roman. Wes and Jevon I can get what you are saying they really don't anything unique, I think there size is kind of an issue, granted I don't think all small guys suck, but I don't think either of them are going to progress very much beyond being a midcarder, if they can find something they gets them over though Ill gladly be proven wrong

Oba is like African Sid, I think he plays well for his size and will have a good career on the main roster

Don't you understand? Jon the plumber is going to save wrestling from the evil McMahons.
the sad thing is, these Twitter and Reddit Smarks think AEW is completely fine at the moment, they are completely and utterly out of touch with what the majority of wrestling fans actually want to see. if you showed your average casual WWE fan AEW they would think its fucking gay.

Lmao does this nigger think he's gonna create another boom period? Why does every shitter from the indies think they're gonna be "that guy"?
He and the other clowns on that retarded company just do not want to accept that the period they had to make an impact has already passed.

That ship has already sailed but they do not want to see it, there's only that slow downward spiral for them unless something in the administration changes.

It just tickles me. Especially when it's fucking Mox of all people. Like dude, you had the chance to be The Guy on the biggest stage and flubbed it. And that was a decade ago. You're 40. You aren't breaking the mold at this point.

It was funny and led to a lot of hilarious moments (including WWE putting out a Youtube video talking about CM Punk's ass.) It was Punk being Punk (ie, complaining), even if some of the grievances were legitimate. I'm thinking specifically the issue with the doctor. Staph/MRSA infections aren't something you play around with.

It just kinda highlights what kind of guy Punk is, though, which has only become clearer after his stint in AEW.

So who is Virgil?

Wrestling Superstar.

What happened to Punk v Cody?
Ain't happening nor is Gunther/Cena.

Cena/Punk face/face match at Mania with Punk going over and Cena FINALLY going heel on some random face (like Sami) afterwards makes the most sense.

Punk gets his big Mania main event moment and decisive victory over Cena. Cena then FINALLY fuck goes heels, has Sami fed to him because fuck Sami Zayn, then job Cena out to put over as many up and coming faces Hunter and Shawn have before he fucks off into retirement.

I watched Dynamite and, ngl, Orange Cassidy doing that passive tap-kick thing to Moxley while he's getting gang-beat (with his hands literally duct taped into his pockets) by the entire BBC crew got a bit of a pop out of me.

Idk, I guess the work is working me, but I still mostly just find Mox and co. to be insufferable. Their motivations are too unstated for me to care beyond annoyance. But I appreciate Orange's serious-turn.
Wait, that was supposed to be serious?

That was the moment OC has to drop the comedy shit and show he takes this seriously, but he obviously doesn't and neither does anyone in that fucking company.

You're getting your shit pushed in by guys calling themselves Death Riderz (spelling it with a Z so it's even cooler! I Know Mox would agree). These guys tried to murder Bryan Danielson twice! And at the moment of truth, you... do the shitty shin kicks, like a faggot.

Fuck this shit, I'm fucking done. Against all odds, I still held onto a fucking gay 🌈, but they obviously don't give a flying fuck, why should I?

TNA at it's absolute worst had the excuse that Dixie was a complete normie when she had the company dropped on her lap. Tony is supposed to be a fan, and he's worse than she ever was.

I saw that on twitter and honestly OC doing is comedy bullshit kicks feels as bad as the Finger Poke of Death, he's the challenger for their fucking World Title and he does non-sense on the level of 2010 Santino Marella bullshit, if Tony didn't have Daddy's money AEW would have gone under by now, especially with the shot in the arm WWE got with Vince leaving

Idk, I just thought it was funny because he clearly wasn't going to be able to take on all of those guys anyway, and it was the exact thing that would piss Mox tf off in that moment. Like a little bit of "lol, k" defiance. But I guess that's what I mean by being worked a little. Mox is so off-putting that I find anything that might irritate him a bit amusing.

Though I think I've figured out what is really annoying to me about Mox. He's supposed to be this bad ass who's trying to re-revolutionize the company... but then he's unwilling or unable to name the real root of the problem: his boss. Khan isn't supposed to be a character (except when he is), but Mox never even says that "management" is who's allowing the goofy shit to go on. He doesn't even insult the crowd for lapping that shit up.

He's getting pissy with the inmates running the asylum, but never addresses the decision to put them all in that position in the first place. Like, I can't tell if this is all Tony Khan trying to feign self-awareness or just make the critics seem unreasonable or what.

And having Marina Shaffir as Mox's personal bodyguard is pretty fucking goofy as well.
