How long has it been known that a CoinBase account under Rick's name had made BTC payments to TorSwats?

It's not known if any payments were made from the account, just that an account was registered with Rick's e-mail address. It might not have gone through KYC verification.

I think if Rick directly transferred funds to torswats from the crypto exchange, he would be enjoying prison already. Likewise, the drowned Samsung was probably just him being a moron, not deliberately trying to hide digital traces by physically destroying the phone. But it's hard to know what to make of the situation, since everyone involved is retarded and unreliable.

I mean there are a few things about all of this "gemini account" shit that should be noted - at least based on the information I have seen so far:

• I can't test any of this because I can't use either of these exchanges and I am lazy as fuck
• On some websites you can register an account using someone else's email address and it will "exist" forever without the account ever being verified - this means a random person could've tried to sign up someone maliciously or they used that person's email address accidentally and the account may exist forever. It doesn't mean it is a real account or that it has ever been used before.
• When the email address owner clicks a link then the account will be "email verified" but if this doesn't happen then then the account may never get registered successfully and may expire after a few days - or it may stay in existence permanently
• Usually crypto exchanges require a mobile number as well when first signing up and will require an OTP - the same shit applies as above
• Ok the next thing we move on to is KYC - from what I can tell both Gemini and Coinbase require KYC. But this doesn't mean that the account can't exist in the first place without KYC or even without email verification being completed (it depends on how the exchange is set up). So an account can exist that is never fully set up.
• Crypto exchanges and most websites have it in their best interests to allow accounts to be set up without email/phone verification being done and without KYC being done and will still sometimes allow you to deposit funds but not to withdraw funds.
• A person can have an unverified, un-KYC'd account or a fully verified and fully KYC'd account and never make a single transaction.
• The data leak from HIBP (haveibeenpwnd) doesn't include any information about its quality - database breaches and shit like this can sometimes be commingled with other breaches. So just because someone is on a databreach that claims to be from a particular website, it does not actually prove they ever had an account to begin with. • Acting like someone having their email in a data breach for a crypto exchange is 100% surefire proof they have not only used crypto but paid for whatever is claimed is very farfetched.

Most likely not. Some exchanges allow you to transfer funds "internally" (like to another user on the same exchange) but there is no way in hell they let you "search" for other users.

I mean his claims above about telegram and the exchange account could've been done by simswapping - but I am pretty sure gemini requires an email address for that. So it is actually feasible that someone simswapped Patrick at some stage, set up a telegram account and also used the simswap to get his email account, which they then used to sign up for the gemini account.

But people typically do this kind of shit to steal money, not to try and set up the most flimsy of circumstantial evidence that some dude was paying to get themselves swatted. Besides that, I am pretty sure if his email was actually hacked via simswap that there would've been email dumps made and they would've fucked around with his accounts extensively.
