It's okay when they do it, don't you see? They don't like corporations doing it (and reasonably so), only to do the same things. But because da QUEERS did it, it's justified. Corporations only do it annually or when it's convenient. They do it at any chance possible.

Curvy art aside, USA has a very bad reputation in Twitter because they tend to get into copious amounts of drama, which is what I know them for. As an example, back in October, they were in hot water for demanding "permission" for someone to make fanart... of their Splatoon Inkling Girl fanart. Not an OC, just an Inkling girl they drew with an hourglass figure.
Most people tend to respect an artist's boundaries, but in this case USA received backlash for making demands over copyrighted characters that do not belong to them to begin with. I believe the common consensus back then was that you can make a case for the Goth Ponmi's design being distinct enough, in an AU sense, but not in the case of the Inkling Girl (if you search their username on Twitter a lot of people asked them if they had obtained Nintendo's permission to draw that Inkling Girl).
What came afterwards, to the surprise of nobody who has tried to engage with Japanese artists before, is that USA had a schizo meltdown, privated their account, and posted several explicit posts threatening suicide probably to guilt trip everyone into leaving them alone.
This, understandably enough, did not help their case. They "calmed down" but, instead of blocking potential detractors and laying low, they kept arguing and even tripling down over their problem with "imitations".
Most of USA's replies are extremely lengthy, to the point that their Replies tab looks incoherent, yet they boil down to the same thing: they put the word "imitation" between two Xs, therefore YOU can't even draw them fanart of their fanart without their blessing. Even if you credit them, they think that making fanart of something they have made is the same as stealing (artstyle stealing) and reposting their work.
So yeah, they might be innocent in this case, but USA is still a mentally-unstable individual with an ego problem and more dramas are likely to come. After all, they have gained detractors for many reasons at this point.
TL;DR: fanart of curvy Inkling Girl fanart kills the JP, I guess.
