Idk what mental illness Aiden has, but what you're describing is textbook abuser behavior. Abusive personalities worm their way into positions that offer a veneer of goodness they can hide behind such as activist, priest, teacher, philanthropist, social worker, etc.

Amen to you both. I suspect it's these types of people who are behind that bullshit "Platinum Rule" floating about the internet these days. Unlike the Golden Rule which is "Treat others as you want to be treated," it's "Treat others the way they want to be treated." Not only do they completely miss the point of the Golden Rule (if you want people to treat you well, show that you are willing to treat others well), but I swear to you it's justification for them to treat people they think are evil or bad because "if they believe this evil stuff and are evil, then surely they must want to be treated poorly!"
