No matter how bad the parenting was in that home, it is what the Rekieta children are used to and it represents stability and security to them. Children love and are greatly attached to their parents despite their faults. And no one knows a parents faults better than their children. And children have a great capacity for forgiveness, even to their own detriment.
I honestly don't think they're safe around Nick and that he's showing a lot of the behaviors typically associated with a family annihilator.

That picture found on facebook of the baby raccoons climbing the side of the house, there were five of them...

Personally I think him being a family annihilator is a stretch, but I agree that the kids are not safe under his care. The daughter testing positive for cocaine is proof enough of that, as is his reckless and impaired driving with kids in the car.

Was about to make an effortpost talking about how surely Nick wouldn't stoop to that level and his profile is more consistent with just bad domestic abuse, but the more I looked the worse it got :cryblood:

ETA: Going down this list , you can get a feel for the general attributes and preceeding incidents that can set the stage for an annhilator. I thought initially it was primarily related to a loss of pride (losing a job as a breadwinner, feeling emasculated by a cheating wife, etc), but it turns out straight up familial arguments can predicate this shit too. Also contributory factors?

Go on vacation for a week, 600 pages to catch up on! :stress:

Question to OG Farmers: Has anyone's thread moved this quickly for this long?

It's comical that Nick once made fun of the lolcows with long/quick moving threads. The irony that keeps revealing itself is truly fun to predict and watch. Cheers to nearing 7,400!

Psychologically and emotionally, any damage to the Rekieta children has already been done. The children would suffer greater harm being separated from their parents. The best outcome for them is that their parents stay together, in their same home, and life returns to their new normal ASAP. I do not wish that they now also have to go through the displacement of a divorce.
herein lies the problem. daddy, the MOMENT the governments eyes are off of him, will return to turning the balldo lair into a crackden swinger den. I think the kids are better off with the grandparents until shock collar drug tests are permanently affixed to rekieta.

If he takes a plea deal, the bodycam footage will be released, which will be funny.
I've been hearing this a lot lately. What is this based on?

It is based on absolutely nothing and people should stop getting others' hopes up about it. While there is absolutely no doubt that the few excerpts of bodycam footage introduced in as exhibits in a trial would become public, and while there may even be a decent shot at petitioning some day for release of the bodycam excerpts that the Barneswalker uploaded to MNDES and presented as evidence in support of the Franks motion prior to a plea, in the event of a plea the pertinent statute is clear and unambiguous that any portion of an investigation's bodycam footage not presented as evidence in court remains private after the investigation flips from active status to inactive status, unless a specific exception applies, none of which will after the plea:

13.825 PORTABLE RECORDING SYSTEMS.
...
Subd. 2. Data classification; court-authorized disclosure. (a) Data collected by a portable recording system are private data on individuals or nonpublic data, subject to the following:
(1) data that record, describe, or otherwise document actions and circumstances surrounding either the discharge of a firearm by a peace officer in the course of duty, if a notice is required under section 626.553, subdivision 2, or the use of force by a peace officer that results in substantial bodily harm, as defined in section 609.02, subdivision 7a, are public;
(2) data are public if a subject of the data requests it be made accessible to the public, except that, if practicable, (i) data on a subject who is not a peace officer and who does not consent to the release must be redacted, and (ii) data on a peace officer whose identity is protected under section 13.82, subdivision 17, clause (a), must be redacted;
(3) subject to paragraphs (b) to (d), portable recording system data that are active criminal investigative data are governed by section 13.82, subdivision 7, and portable recording system data that are inactive criminal investigative data are governed by this section;
(4) portable recording system data that are public personnel data under section 13.43, subdivision 2, clause (5), are public; and
(5) data that are not public data under other provisions of this chapter retain that classification.
(LINK)

What is critical in the case of a plea is the above Section 13.825(2)(a)(3)'s incorporation by reference of the the separate Section 13.82(7) quoted below in pertinent part:

13.82 COMPREHENSIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT DATA.
...
Subd. 7. Criminal investigative data. Except for the data defined in subdivisions 2, 3, and 6, investigative data collected or created by a law enforcement agency in order to prepare a case against a person, whether known or unknown, for the commission of a crime or other offense for which the agency has primary investigative responsibility are confidential or protected nonpublic while the investigation is active. ... An investigation becomes inactive upon the occurrence of any of the following events:
(a) a decision by the agency or appropriate prosecutorial authority not to pursue the case;
(b) expiration of the time to bring a charge or file a complaint under the applicable statute of limitations, or 30 years after the commission of the offense, whichever comes earliest; or
(c) exhaustion of or expiration of all rights of appeal by a person convicted on the basis of the investigative data.
Any investigative data presented as evidence in court shall be public.
(LINK)

Because his plea would result in a conviction with the waiver of the right to appeal, the investigation would flip to "intactive" status at that moment, and thus revert back to the bodycam-specific rules and exceptions in Section 13.825(2)(a) above. What may have led to some understandable confusion ITT previously is that Section 13.82(7) does have a bunch of verbiage about inactive investigation data becoming public, which I clipped out of the above quote as impertinent because Section 13.82(7) does not apply to inactive investigations' bodycam footage in particular. Section 13.825(2)(a)(3) only incorporated Section 13.82(7) to the limited extent that "active investigation data" are concerned, whereas "portable recording system data that are inactive criminal investigative data are governed by this section" instead, namely Section 13.825, which deems the footage nonpublic absent an applicable exception lying within the four corners of Section 13.825 itself.

With no firearm discharged, with no substantial bodily harm, with no consent from a qult member for any price, with any conceivable future consent from a cop sure to trigger onerous redactions per Section 13.825(2)(a)(2)(i), and with the much-vaunted "dispel widespread rumor" provision lying within Section 13.82 which 13.825(2)(a)(3) renders wholly inapplicable to an inactive status, there simply isn't an avenue to release of the footage after a guilty plea, which is Nick's strongest incentive to enter one.

So tomorrow is the big day: we'll learn if the Balldo is going to trial or not. What are your guy's predictions? Mine is that he'll take the plea bargain.

Either way: we get some entertainment; we're in a no-lose situation. If he takes a plea deal, the bodycam footage will be released, which will be funny. It'll also be funny to hear his compelling legal defense as to why he's innocent that he's been just dying to tell us all. If he goes to trial, it'll be one of the biggest legal shitstorm lolsuits in Internet history. I can hardly contain my excitement
Same I have a feeling he going to take the plea deal that would be the smart thing and we get the bodycam footage but what I want is that he'll take it to trial which is guarantee jail time since no jury in their right mind is going to believe him and he'll probably piss off the judge even more. So it's a win-win regardless what happens.

Only saw one session of them, but he was an insufferable faggot the whole time.
Yeah, he had to make a joke out of everything and he was really flaky on attendance.

Could we get some links? Some good ol
Balldo flashbacks while we wait for the pain?
I'll see what I can find. I imagine it would have been linked in this thread when it was going on, but I wasn't really reading here much then.

Of course he acted that way. You see, other people had the potential of getting attention! Li'l Nicky couldn't have THAT, could he? And a group venture being a success without HIM as the cornerstone??? Why, that's CRAZY talk!!!
This is exactly it. He had to be the star. And he had to be stupid about it.

Here's a link to Nick's character creation, which I never saw. I only caught these streams here and there haphazardly.

However, it's part of a playlist so you can reference that. Nick did eventually drop out because he's a flake. I hate unreliable people who sign up for hobbies.

Secrets of the Frostmaiden - Rekieta Character Creation

Here is the playlist.

I haven't seen the playlist before, so I thought it was weird that they had a creation video for each character, but that wasn't it. It was that Nick flaked out and he had to have his own special make-up show with just him.

What a fag.

I realize that this will go against the seemingly majority opinion here.

I hope that Nick and Kayla cop a plea, do no jail time, spend a certain amount of time on probation, being held responsible for maintaining a sober, clean home and that they retain full custody of all the children. If the Rekieta family stays in the same general location, the health and well-being of the children will remain under the watchful eye of extended family, friends, the community, and for a time, the State.

Psychologically and emotionally, any damage to the Rekieta children has already been done. The children would suffer greater harm being separated from their parents. The best outcome for them is that their parents stay together, in their same home, and life returns to their new normal ASAP. This is what I wish for their children.
This is what I wish for all children.
Signed,
Pollyanna Galoop

This is null and void if there is ever any proof of physical/sexual abuse of children. Only then should the state step in immediately and children be removed until their safety can be assured. I am comfortable with the Minnesota child welfare workers determination that the Rekieta children are in no further danger at this time. We may not like it, and I personally don't like Nick and Kayla one bit, but my need to see them punished is overshadowed by what is best for their children.
So a positive test for extremely high cocaine use doesn’t count as enough child abuse for you to want the parents removed?

Do I think Nick will take a plea deal? Yes. Because when it comes down to it, he's a coward and a bootlicker. Right, Nick?
It really is a coin flip. Rackets doesn't want that body footage out, which a plea would achieve, but admitting guilt makes him feel like a vampire being dipped in a vat of molten silver.

Been trying to track down details pertaining to homeschooling and iPads in the Rekieta home. Here are some clips (with credit to @Peace Through Power) that help paint a better picture of what that looked like.

2018-06-02: Hours on iPads

While detailing air travel with his kids, Nick claims that his children can easily occupy themselves for up to five hours on their tablets.

2018-12-19: Co-op (couple times a month)

The kids are homeschooled and a "couple times a month" they go to the co-op to cover elective subjects.

2022-02-09: Bedtime at the Rekieta's

The kids are in bed at 9 and take their iPads (rarely a book) to occupy themselves until they go to sleep of their own accord. Nick jokingly describes himself as the worst parent in the world for this. Ha ha ha.

2023-03-14: Co-op Still Twice a Month

The homeschool co-op still gets together twice a month as of early 2023.

2023-11-14: iPad Incentives

In late 2023, the children were not keeping up with their music practices. Kayla used their coveted iPad leisure time to incentivize the children's music practice. The iPads are also used for school-related activities.

It seems that obligations to the homeschool co-op were not that intensive schedule-wise and the gatherings consistently happened twice a month for years. Also, iPads figure greatly into the lives of the Rekieta children.

It is uncertain how much schoolwork was done on the iPads. Though there are some references to their schoolwork being done entirely on iPads it doesn't seem to have been clipped (or possibly said on a LOCALS stream?).

If one is inclined, a clip of Nick saying that the homeschooling is dominantly done on iPads would be appreciated and it will also be included in the Kayla OP. I'll keep an eye out for it in this thread, or it can be sent to me via DM.
