Probably not. He had the look and in-ring ability but he was awkward on the mic and didn't have the charisma of the other top guys (or even his own tag partner) at the time. Putting him with Rock was likely meant to catapult him into the main event scene but he wasn't getting over because his promos were just trash. I remember reading somewhere that originally BG was supposed to win against The Rock but Vince changed his mind after seeing how awful BG was on the mic.

Putting him up against The Rock did him no favors, though. Talk about being thrown into the deep end. Rock completely eviscerated him on the mic and no one could take BG seriously after. The timing was probably bad, too. They wanted BG to win KOTR (and for good reason), so they had to cut the Road Dogg feud short since it happened a month before KOTR. If they had broken up a few months before that to let him have a longer feud with Road Dogg and then another feud or two (Shamrock would've probably worked out well since he was worse on the mic than BG) a bit higher up the card after that before throwing him to The Rock, maybe he'd have improved his mic skills and it'd have gone better.

NAO are up there but I'd probably go with the Steiners as the best tag team ever. Also notable mentions would be Road Warriors and Dudleys.

And now the most important part: the source. It's John Cena vs. The Miz in an "I quit" match, from WWE Over The Limit 2011. One of those high level CENA WINS LOL moments. Funny in hindsight, but fucking sucked to see live.

Was listening to Takers pod right? He and his faggoty co-host vastly overrate the impact the Brothers of Destruction had as a tag.
Like I enjoy the BoD, but they weren't anything special as a team. They didn't innovate. Didn't have any good rivalries. Didn't have good matches.

Only thing they had going for them as a team was the kayfabe relationship, the similar gimmicks, and the two guys had good chemistry even if that rarely translated to good matches.

I get that it means something to Taker, and Kane I guess, and it's hard to be objective about these things but cmon. Taker unironically saying he thinks the BoD is a Hall of Fame team, and for his dumb co-host to say they're a top 5 or 10 EVER? That's gotta be bait and I'm getting worked.

BOD was not even a top 50 tag team if we're being honest. They weren't a tag team all that often or long, they didn't really have an impact besides the fact that two people who were big stars teamed up and didn't innovate anything. I'd put them on par with HHH and Austin's tag team, probably even less impactful

The Miracle Violence Connection, simply for having the most kickass name and two guys who could legitimately kill you.

Dudleys/Hardys/E&C? They more or less popularized spectacle/backyard wrestling.

There's the MCMG, Steiners, Hollywood Blondes, British Bulldogs, New Day, Briscoes, or Undertaker and Big Show for different reasons and who actually contributed more as a tag team than the Bucks.

If I remember right, I think he used their role in reshaping the wrestling landscape with the launch of AEW to justify the decision to include them.

they teamed on and off, they had the gold a few times, but I always thought when they were fighting against each other in singles was when it was more impactful, I still remember their last feud when Taker let Kane go over him 3 PPVs in a row in 2010 before Taker went part-time, always thought that was a nice gesture on his part, considering the fact Taker generally got the last laugh in all their other feuds, WWE went to complete utter and shit soon after that and I just stopped watching, 2009 was the last year the product was as a whole watchable until 2020 imo, the 2010s were the dark ages

Precisely. They didn't do jack shit. I mean I guess it doesn't matter, the Hall of Fame is ultimately a joke anyway; fuckin Rikishi is in it, afterall. It was just so baffling to hear BoD brought up in a GOAT discussion and the way Taker blows their importance out of the water threw me for a loop.

Which is painfully common with rasslers. Hell earlier I saw a clip of Mark Henry crying because he claims he invented the "roll through the crossbody and pick the guy up" spot, and how everyone stole it from him and how special it is to be able to create something. Yeah, sure Mark. You're the first person in the 100+ years of Professional Wrestling to catch a guy in a crossbody and roll through. Out of the hundreds of thousands of matches that have happened in that time, not one single person ever thought of that spot. Nope. It was Mark Henry. Apparently.

Everytime I think of the Brothers of Destruction, the first thing that comes to mind is that absolutely dreadful match against KroniK in Unforgiven 2001.

So make of that what you will, I love Taker to death but he's full of shit in this one.

having held tag titles twice (three times if you count wcw during the invasion) doesn't seem very impactful or top 50 worthy

I think I'm going to go to Vegas for Mania weekend to see TJPW and DDT. I booked a four night stay (refundable) at the Palms this morning. I've been thinking about it for a while and decided to pull the trigger. I've never been to Vegas before. I don't know. I might pull a Nic Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. I was pricing rental cars this afternoon and you can get a BMW 2 Series for only $20 a day more than a shitty Nissan compact.
