Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

What the fuck is that, a Street Sharks skin?

Remember that BO6 takes place in the Gulf War.

How's everybody's experience with Season 1?

Battle Pass is bugged; it doesn't show your level progress beyond the first item per page. CoD HQ always requires an update every couple hours, which boots you out after matches. They removed XP tokens between games?!
you can still activate Double XP Tokens in Warzone then go into Multiplayer or Zombies, after a bunch of normalfags were having meltys on Twitter they said they were going to bring back all of the MWIII tokens in a future update, as far as the Battle Pass goes though ive noticed that too, its fucking annoying, they don't consider the fact that HQ is buggy as shit

They want the Suicide Squad audience, there was a Shark character there as well.
I don't get it. Not to be a stickler, but it has nothing to do with the 90s and guerrilla warfare.

There's ONE store cosmetic I saw with BO6 that makes sense: Jungle Trooper. Now, there's another issue in play: why would I pay for a barebones cosmetic? 1300 CoD Points, if we buy the points wholesale, that's $20. $20 for a skin and and scraps is ridiculous.

So, to take everyone's mind off of BO6 already jumping the shark - literally - I went ahead and took a look at some of the older CoD Multiplayer games on PS4/5; I know the general consensus is "every game is crammed full of hackers", but call me a curious motherfucker. Here's what I've found:

Again, this is my experiences on PS4/5; other people probably dealt with different players, and had different experiences.

Ghosts: Multiplayer is mostly dead; barely anyone plays anymore, and anyone left is mostly packing high-end gear, like gold ARs. You do get the occasional meme player like myself, but it's mostly just a few dedicated sweats.

Advanced Warfare: Probably the sweatiest of the games; everyone is jumping around and constantly going for headshots, all while packing Elite gear. Got to the point where the game wasn't even fun to play; wound up ditching it.

Black Ops 3: Haven't picked up another decent copy as of yet, so I can't drop a review.

Infinite Warfare: Pretty sweaty, with most players using the Synaptic Rig with the Titan LMG. Also pretty rare to get a full lobby; makes it hard to level the mission teams for the completionists out there.

Modern Warfare Remastered: Difficult to find matches; most of the time I tried, the game insisted that it couldn't connect to Activision's servers. I did get a few matches; some were pretty fair, others were crammed full of sweats using the DLC guns and spamming Choppers, including at least one guy that went 20+/0. Bit of a pain, since you need to play Online to grab access to Depot credits to grab the Supply Drops, which you need to get the DLC guns and gear for Private Match... unless you're going to shell out IRL money for the Drops, which I'm not.

Black Ops 4: Second - or sixth, technically - verse, same as the first; crammed full of sweats, typically spamming high-end scorestreaks and DLC weapons like the Peacekeeper MK. 2 and Crossbow. The only game I officially found hackers on, actually; saw a few guys running either 6 perks and fully modded guns, or were running around as Ruin with an infinite timer on Spectre's sword, throwing it constantly and flying around like BO3/IW. Bit of a shame, since I actually saw a LOT of activity on this one.

WWII: Haven't got a copy for this one anymore, either; traded it in a while back, so I can't write a review.

Frankly, I'm surprised I didn't see any hackers on games aside from BO4; I know there's plenty on PC. Granted, it's just my experiences, so...?

I didn't touch any of the Zombies/Extinction stuff; as fun as those were, I got burnt out on them a while back, so I stopped playing them. Haven't touched any of the Warzone CoDs for a while, either; doubt I will, given how Activision is actively fucking over the playerbase, unless BO6 somehow manages to be legit amazing in all aspects.

Also, just for fun, I went ahead and checked the games for Pride crap.

Ghosts and IW didn't have any, obviously, and I don't remember BO3 having any either.

Surprisingly, neither IW nor MWR had any Pride crap in them either; I swear IW did, but I guess I was mistaken.

BO4 is a bit questionable; some of the cosmetics look a bit weird, Battery looks like a dyke, and I remember there were a few quotes about Capitalism in Zombies.

I know WWII is woke; playing as a black female Nazi, for one, and the amount of pride and tranny flags in WW2 is notable.

So, if I might ask; how are BO3 and WWII these days? I never did pick up the DLCs for either of them; I know BO3 is mostly praised for Zombies, but what about Multiplayer/Private Match entertainment? As for WWII; is it worth picking up, despite the wokeshit shoved into it? Multiplayer was still somewhat solid last I played, and I've heard Zombies was... alright in the future maps, but is it worth dropping $50 for?

and WWII these days?
Typically, you can find games in TDM, Shipment 24/7, that Zombie Hardpoint hybrid mode, maybe Domination and occasionally Hardcore S&D. It's not uncommon for Shipment to have spam flashes, riot shields, head glitching, Commando SMG run-and-gun and streaks galore. (Playing on Xbox.)

I had thought, for fun, before prestiging again, to be a Black female Nazi with my game being themed as "woke" as possible.

What about BO3? Anyone think that game's Multiplayer still worth playing on PS4/5 in 2024? I know the game's got a bunch of other content besides that - Campaign, Nightmares, Free Run, Combat Immersion Training, and of course Zombies - but what about the Multiplayer?

Haven't played BO3 extensively. I heard that Zombies peaked with Black Ops 3, especially if you have the PC version thanks to mods. To me, Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare played similarly to one another.

On to Black Ops 6, they add Prop Hunt and remove Infected? Why no Gun Game, One in the Chamber, Blitz or Cranked?

Good news, they added back 10v10 Moshpit in rotation.

Knifing in BO6 makes no sense. Stakeout especially. Why do I have to equip my melee weapon out? WWII allowed you to at least have it in the secondary weapon slot. You have people running around in Stakeout just knifing people with some magnetic range up close.

I tried it myself; I see why people do it. Sometimes, I can be up close or within spitting range and the lunge would take care of the rest. I wish Stakeout 24/7 would come back.

I have Diamond camo for the six original ARs. I plan on unlocking it for SMGs and LMGs. Maybe the knife if I can get the hang of it.

You have to be really careful, this game has some RCE exploits. About 60% of games you get into are hacked lobbies, but the remaining 40% are basically the same as I remember it at launch

Alright, call me curious; how's MWIII these days? I know the SBMM is still most likely terrible - I had the damn game for the better part of a year, so I know just how insane that shit got - but did the game improve at all after BO6 came out? Or did it basically continue to slide into complete worthlessness?

I admit, I did have some genuine fun on the game when I played; the game was certainly made for the fast-paced smaller maps, and weapons like the bow and sledgehammer were honestly a lot of genuine fun. Still, I did get genuinely a bit burnt out on it by the end; the constant fuckery of fluctuating damage REALLY got on my nerves.

The BO6 launch just made how egregious the SBMM in MWIII really is. I stopped playing because of how bad it was. I went from roughly 1 in 6 games being a sweatfest to it being 50/50 sweatfest or lagfest.

Ranked play added into Black Ops 6 already has cheaters plaguing that experience. Activision responds by ADJUSTING its Ricochet anti-cheat measures over time. Why not just reset everybody since a majority of its participants are/were affected by malicious actors?

It sucks because barring a couple matches, the ranked servers are far more stable than pubs.

With World at War, I can safely say that Treyarch nailed the Second World War experience within the limitations of the video game medium and the series as a whole.

It deliberately avoids propagandizing or glorifying warfare through unapologetically depicting the brutality of warfare through animation, art design, character development and raw gameplay.

The video in question also highlights where recent WW2 shooters, especially CoD: Vanguard, went wrong with that time period.

Ah, World at War... my first ever CoD game, was the one that really got me into the series. I admit, it wasn't always perfect, but it certainly hit the vibe better than WWII did, and Vanguard feels like it was specifically designed to piss off people who enjoyed WaW, frankly. Seriously, WaW did a damn fine job of showcasing just how dark the Second World War really was; you got the Russians and Germans trying to out-do each other in the war crimes department, while the Americans and Japanese were slaughtering each other in the trenches. Multiplayer was good all around, and Zombies was a neat little edition. Makes you wonder what the scrapped British campaign would've been like...

Wouldn't mind a remaster of the game one of these days, though given how the devs ruined Vanguard - especially since the two games were supposed to take place in the same continuity, at the same time - it might be for the best that WaW was left on the PS3/360 generation; I'd take that over a bastardization any day.

When people melee in Black Ops 6, an extended animation plays. I attack somebody with a melee weapon, it's just a swing. How do people do that?

If you do a meelee from behind them you can do a take down. It's a bit janky in BLOPS6 because it has two options. Take down or take hostage.

The game as the classic other meelee issue with Blops. See someone halfway across the map. Start to fire and they have ultrafast crossed all that distance and knifed you.
