KR South Korean president declares emergency martial law, accusing opposition of anti-state activities

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an “emergency martial law,” Tuesday accusing the country’s opposition of controlling the parliament, sympathizing with North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities.

Yoon made the announcement during a televised briefing. He declared the step as critical for defending the country’s constitutional order. It wasn’t immediately clear how the steps would affect the country’s governance and democracy.

Yoon since taking office in 2022 had struggled to push his agendas against an opposition-controlled parliament.

Will be insane if North Korea "opens up" or actually engages in direct war.
keep an eye on the DMZ, that's all i gotta say. Kim has been tightening control lately, trying to gently erase his grandfather and father's legacy (removing the juche dating system, removing extra rations on their birthdays).

North Korea are like the easy boogieman, say anythings connected to them and usually the response is GET RID OF IT.

I didn't know the gooks were this authoritarian.
They love a dictatorship. Of all the yellow people, they are the most buglike, even the Chinks have a small spark of humanity left. Worst Korea is an insane asylum, it's difficult to really understand unless you've had to spend time there.

Koreans are so insane they managed to fit a Communist Dictatorship and a Cyberpunk Dystopia on the same tiny fucking peninsula. It's crazy.

The entrance to the parliament in South Korea is blocked. Nor citizens or deputies are allowed inside

*Edit* Allegedly South Korea is now imposing military censorship on all media outlets, in addition, South Korean currency is falling.

*Edit* 2 - South Korean APCs spotted patrolling the streets

Isn’t his opposition the literal lesbian feminist sex cult? How is him doing a self-coup against them a bad thing?
Yoon is comically unpopular. He also has no idea what the fuck he's doing, so the parliament, controlled by the Democrats, have largely just resigned themselves to passive resistance by sitting on their hands and refusing to do anything. Recently, however, they served a bunch of impeachment papers to Yoon and his cabinet.

Naver, Daum experience service disruptions after Yoon's martial law declaration

SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) -- Naver, South Korea's leading Internet portal, experienced disruption in its service Tuesday following President Yoon Suk Yeol's unexpected martial law declaration.

Naver Cafe, the company's online community platform, has experienced connection disruptions from around 11 p.m. after Yoon's announcement was made at around 10:30 p.m.

"We are currently investigating whether this is due to a sudden surge in traffic," Naver said.

Similar issues were observed in services of Daum, the country's second-largest web portal. The company shared an emergency maintenance notice on the comment section of its news service.

The Korean National Police Agency announced its plans to convene an emergency meeting of key officials following South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law late Tuesday.

“All police officials are hurrying to the headquarters (of the KNPA) following the emergency declaration of martial law,” a police official was quoted as saying by local media.

Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Cho Ji-ho also ordered its senior officials to report to duty for an emergency meeting.

Recently, however, they served a bunch of impeachment papers to Yoon and his cabinet.
for context:
The main opposition Democratic Party of Korea on Monday submitted motions to the National Assembly to impeach the head of the state audit agency and three prosecutors involved in two different scandals surrounding first lady Kim Keon Hee.
NOT Yoon himself.
