KR South Korean president declares emergency martial law, accusing opposition of anti-state activities

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an “emergency martial law,” Tuesday accusing the country’s opposition of controlling the parliament, sympathizing with North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities.

Yoon made the announcement during a televised briefing. He declared the step as critical for defending the country’s constitutional order. It wasn’t immediately clear how the steps would affect the country’s governance and democracy.

Yoon since taking office in 2022 had struggled to push his agendas against an opposition-controlled parliament.

Yoon Cuck Yeol got humilated when he tried to whip his dick out. This is where he does the ritual suicide right? Or performative begging those gooks do?

It seems Yoon Suk Yeol did not exactly secure the loyalty of the military, how embarrassing for a would-be dictator. Good for those who prefer South Korea's current system of governance though.
Likely he only had partial support. He made a big show of force to try and get compliance. Shock and awe. When it came down to it though, it seemed he was outnumbered that liked the current state of affairs

Is the military not backing him anymore?

How can you just vote out of martial law?
It's in the Constitution as @Toji Suzuhara posted. But really it's all about one side asserting and maintaining authority over the other. Like if the US President decides to ignore a SCOTUS ruling and gets away with it. The lame ass SK President lost this one and is headed to the meat grinder.

The Democratic Party has 170 members, so they got an additional 20 assembly members to come out with them.

It wouldn’t surprised if the remaining 110 have left the country. The vote was unanimous simply because they weren’t there, but the biased Korean media will say that the vote was unanimous, blah blah blah.

Worth noting the wording refers to anyone still enforcing martial law after they've voted against it.
If it was a translation error and the actual phrasing was "still enforcing martial law" after the legislators voted against it one can see why the military would just prefer to take their guns and go home. If the President of SK is unpopular and doesn't have all that much support even among his own camp, in the eyes of many standing by him probably just isn't worth it.

I’m listening to Lookner cover this and he’s saying that martial law is still on despite the vote - until the president says otherwise?

It still met the quorum, so whether or not you like it, it was unanimous simply because there was no one there saying no.

Oh yeah, this guy is getting hung, possibly even the firing squad

No clue, people are reposting articles/tweets that say it applies to "anyone who enforced martial law" or "anyone who is still enforcing martial law". Not particularly clear at present.

The outcome of this vote is that they've issued a demand to the president to lift martial law and he's obliged to follow on it. Martial law is effectively over with that vote though, according to Yonhap.
