On a semi-related note, started watching Dungeon Meshi to see if the elf was good. Immediately greeted with a Netfux tramp stamp shattering my ear drums, not good. I see studio trigger is once again selling out ala cyberpunk, cool. And the show is being produced in part by a branch of the ESG Mandating Chinese Communist Company Tencent, neat! Cowardly "french name" elf girl doesn't have much presence at all, she's got a mid-design too with the parachute pants, and the art style doesn't really do her any favors. It's kindov like Calarts/Manhua, it's nothing special.
What's worse is I'm Starting to Notice some things about the show's formula. By episode 4 there are "noble savage" orcs (with families) being introduced. By episode 5 I'm looking at caucazoid-featured negroid #576 in armor. By episode 6 I'm seeing a redskin elf skulking about... I can certainly see why Netfux picked this show up. It seems ripe for use as melting pot media. Maybe the manga will reveal better more traditional fantasy content down the roa--Oh Jesus Christ what the fuck is that thing!? Where's Frieren the Slayer when you need her? The Calarts comparison was spot on. Turns out the lore is utterly polluted with shitskins of every stripe, and it even contains some of those obscure old tumblr demos like big-boned gingers...
Get this, in Dungeon Meh-shi, the Nigger Elves with the most Nigger'd abyssal skin are apparently the "we wuz royalty" of the elves. Yuck. Get that shit the fuck away from me, female mangaka. No thank you. With 5+ hours of my life wasted, I'm already done with Dungeon Meh-shi. Rather, I don't need it. Every other European-inspired fantasy is getting blackened into a bad captain planet commercial, I don't need to see extra darkness shoved in my face. Frieren really is the last hope for based fantasy out there.
