UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot outside Hilton hotel in Midtown in targeted attack: cops - Just Part and Parcel of visiting a Big City

I hope he suffered.
I don't but I hope this sends a very loud message. Every single day lots of people get shot and killed and lots of people get denied health insurance claims and die - it is not every single day that a health insurance CEO gets murdered in a busy city and the assailant just walks off into the crowd.

The message won't be any louder if suffering is involved and in fact may actually negate the message if that were to happen.

If the shooter is white then it’s a schizo glowed to maturity, or had a family member get fucked over by health insurance.
One of the articles said the shooter knew what door he was coming through, shot him, then escaped on a bicycle (was wearing a balaklava or some shit too)
This man has a story and I want to know what it is.

I don't really think any human deserves to die and in my opinion this is pretty messed up. Obviously it comes as the result of a lot of angry people. But what can you do when this is just solely encouraged by the structure of public companies to maximize shareholder value at any cost?
The death of one man is a tragedy, but the deaths of millions is a statistic. Perhaps you'll feel less sad about CEOs dying if they, too, become a statistic.

I don't know. I don't like seeing anyone die. I bet a lot of gamers on here would pretty upset if Gaben got shot. Maybe people should have more value for human life but that's a pretty bold ask nowadays I guess.

I'm with you on this. But at some level this kind of person is directly or indirectly responsible for people dying as a result of their action/inaction. Obviously since they're involved in healthcare people are going to be dying and there is some economics involved here, but the guy was the CEO of a business which literally exists to profit off of choosing which people get healthcare treatments and which don't.

Seems like the kind of job that would make one either unable to sleep at night or attract pure psychopaths who don't see any issue with it at all.

Yeah, I guess you're right. But I think it comes down to the fact if they didn't do it the other health insurance companies would and they'd lose money and ultimately it just comes down to the fact that America has poor health care.

While I won't celebrate the loss of human life, I won't pretend to be distraught over this particular death.
I don't like the idea of someone killing in broad daylight and just leaving, but this has been an issue in cities for years with no care from the elite, so he's not special because he has 10 digits of funny money to his name.
I don't think this will fix health care, but it'd be ironic if he didn't have life insurance.

I'd rather pain be stopped than shared, but there's no denying some people earn their apathy.
