The tax threshold to be issued a 1099-K for 2024 is $5k (down from $20k AND 200 transactions), so he will likely get one from Kick, Google & Paypal, so he'll have to declare all of that. I can't imagine Patreon gets above $5k so he can hide that money for another year.

One correction to a prior reply... any business entity not taxed as a corporation falls under 1040-C income, where business expenses are deducted from revenue and you're only taxed on the net. So a sole proprietor or LLC that gets a 1099-K generated counts here too, although if you're doing enough to have a 1099-K you should be registered as a business in your state. It's infinitely easier to manage finances when you segregate spending, plus you open yourself up to business lines of credit... on second thought probably a bad idea for Phil.

Also... when it comes to bankruptcy, by now Phil should have a pretty clean and steadily growing credit score. He has all the arbitrary things that most people post Ch 7 don't have (mortgage and car payment) and if he was smart he would have at least 1-2 credit cards where he pays off the full amount every month to build a history. I've done post-Ch 7 financial planning with people, and it's not impossible to have a 700-750 credit score when your Ch 7 ages off your report.

Depending on the type of bankruptcy you can start getting credit after waiting a few months. Granted it will be at insanely high interest rates but someone with a finance degree should be able to navigate that pretty easily.
He was granted chapter 7 due to debts being discharged, he has an automatic 8 years started from the date it was filed, which was 1/31/2020. He’s has 3 years left unless he makes soulmaid file

So a few things apologies work has kicked my ass but the last 10 pages have been great reading on my breaks so thanks frens

@strandedcastaway to back with @neger psykolog who is easily I think one of the most veteran posters, Phil's numbers on his streams are nowhere near to what he had. example the save the house stream had 5000 viewers live before applying Tevin etc, Tevin had like 7200 people watching live it was insane. His emergency streams are a shadow to now to think a pc building stream had less than 300 viewers is lunacy to me, if that happened in 2017 he would have had easily 3k viewing. Put it this way too his audience for live watchers is even worse last year he averaged 500-600 and now he struggles at 250. His Youtube is unsustainable as he never states what is vpned so memberships etc.

Kick chat is so funny, he is going to abandon it by year end they eat him alive.

This year I think might be his best, it's like a Musk Sapphire mine for bangers, I remembered before reading it this year was the fat khet reveal (POP and Alts reaction to that is timeless along with Tevin's) "She is a factual BBBW". 2016 or 17 are dead second because those years were incredible too but this year has been incredible. Like most of you here I have been around since 2010 and some years are terrible but this year is a reason why this guy is in the Lolcow trifecta (Chris, Pixxie and Phil).

Phil fears the whale exodus bad because I do think it is coming fast, the use of socks and faking tips is very clear now. With Kick dried up along with his live viewers drained he is purely dependent on 2/3 people, even the Kick guys are done and with no one offering a lifeline he is done. I think even Keemstar won't bother now as it is evident by his KC collab that Phil bares no fruit. I do agree fully with others that this is dying years timeline because I think his 2025 is going to be very slow and a lot of the dolphins with flee with a few big whales. They have always operated like this.

Edit - with the taxes it is common sense laws, he cannot claim fully on his pc etc as there is a cap and he will try this but he will be gravely dissappointed. With the bankruptcy it is highly doubtful he will be granted a second chapter 7 as there are such rules with purposeful bankruptcy that this falls into absolutely, they can even reference the 2020 one and regard it as a fluke a cite it as a reason for denial.

Thanks I guess. I guess I am a veteran poster here but there are other people who have followed DSP for way longer than I have and who follow him more closely.
I don't really follow his viewcounts and income with detail either, nor do I engage with the detractorverse for the most part.

But leaving aside all of that, it does look like 2024 may just be DSP's penultimate year. Any appeal he has has either gone away because of his own fuckups and/or because it is a crowded market for lolcows.

Those view counts are really alarming. There is no fucking way for him to regain that kind of attention again. The internet is a thousand times more crowded with influencers and wannabe livestreamers compared to before - look at just the "community happenings" thread on KF and its getting like 10-15 updates per day. I know we all say he has nothing to offer to begin with, but he really is in the most hyper-saturated market possible and the vast majority of livestreamers have full time or part time work and just do it as a hobby.

DSP was one of the OG lolcows and was almost universally hated - that's how he ended up with the largest subforum here. He really was "The King of Hate" and that hate people had for him translated into views and attention and some small % of people actually tipping him. The first megathread had thirty-four million views and this one has 11 million (which is still a decent amount but I can only imagine it is dwindling).

If he has an emergency stream now, he might get a thousand views for a day but people will move on to the next topic straight afterwards. If I were in DSP's shoes I'd be looking for at least a part time job (never going to happen) or seriously considering doing costreams with someone else - if he can find the right personality to be the ying to his yang he could get some decent views, but we all know that is seriously unlikely to happen and he is pretty boring overall.

This all leaves aside the reality that his most hardcore whales are very likely deep plant trolls - I do not think a single one of his megawhales is supporting him earnestly. If one of them dies, becomes broke, gets bored or charges back DSP for a few months he is going to be royally fucked. The other outcome is that they (or other people) start to use DSP's financial desperation to degrade him by forcing him to do certain shit.

Really not the greatest time to be splashing out on a bunch of RGB shit.

My fav shit from this year just has to be how mind fucked he is by Cammy on SF6. Like totally buck broken beyond all reason and I hope we get a detractor video of every match so people can see how much of an insane mental block it really is for him. He treats Cammy as OP god super broken when in reality she is pretty good but hard to play in high level play but totally stomps people at his ranking.

RawPhil really does not get enough credit for completing one of the most successful psyops on DSP. Rawphil has Phil so shook that he's immediately salty when a Cammy player shows up, and runs from Cammy players when he plays ranked.
RawPhil managed to convince Phil that the majority Cammy players utilize the same combos and strats, when in reality it was one detractor studying DSP's SF6 gameplay and learning how to successfully neutralize DSP's cheeze strats, then using a bunch of sock accounts to streamsnipe him and push his shit in.
My favorite Rawphil Cammy tell is when he uses the Hooligan Throw as a finishing move - the way that move looks in the slomo zoom-in is clean as hell. It only adds to the hilarity of watching DSP t-pose and sperg out over losing to Cammy.

I've considered the whales to be long-play trolls, but I really don't know if that's the case. Too much money for far too long, when all it'd take to fuck DSP up financially is just to ignore him. OR they know that he relies on them, so better THEM than another genuine whale? That way when they do chargeback or screw him over, nobody can fill the coffers quick enough to keep him afloat.

That's hilarious.
I want this year to end with a bang. Please let us have a Discord hostage situation mid-stream, where some dent's had enough, and he has to address it live or face the wrath of the Dent leaking shit (43-year-old sandbox server, nothing interesting but to Phil it's everything).

I wish we had a chart to prove if this was factual or not. I was under the impression that many people that used to track his shit kind of took their foot off the pedal the moment he admitted to WWEC because it basically became pointless once it was confirmed that he was a gambling addict.
TJ Gamebox still tracks the Champions stuff and posts Phil's spending on his twitter. He did say he would leave after Phil's admission but changed his mind after seeing how brazen Phil was about it all.

I would say his spending overall is still on par with pre-admission/kino, but I'm just going off on seeing amounts in the high hundreds to even over a thousand for some weekly events on a somewhat regular basis.

Was the "viral" fallout 4 video also this year? That was one my favorite dsp moments because it perfectly highlighted how terrible is videos are, and he celebrated it like it was a good thing.

If you know kind of how the youtube algorithm works, it is constantly looking for videos that are watchable to a larger audience and trying to connect the correct videos to the right audience. So basically with Phil's fallout video, the algorithm picked up on it for whatever reason and tried to test it on a bigger audience and as we all would guess, it failed spectacularly. Its hard knowing without seeing his actual analytics but I would guess they gave him at least 500k impressions on that video due to how many views it got, and literally no one stuck around to watch more than a minute of it and no one watched any of his other videos after being recommended that one.

Having the video fail like this probably damaged his channel more than if they didn't even try to test this video in the first place. The algorithm likely concluded Phil's channel is garbage after being thoroughly rejected by the viewers it tried to give him.

If that fallout 4 video did well when the algorithm pushed it out, it would have picked up more of Phil's videos to push out to even more people and phil could have actually had the resurgence he wants, but unfortunately his videos are trash and even hitting the algorithm couldn't save him.

Is that true though? I swear that for the past 3 years his live viewers on average always hovered around 300-400.
It kinda depends on the day. Whatever the numbers, based on how dead his chat often is, I wonder if when there's 400 viewers there's 300 bots, 80 trolls, and 20 actual fans. Very few people actually participate on Phil's streams other than the "anonymous" $50 tippers, Jayde, and dents like Sarah Barclay who for some reason try to offer Phil actual advice thinking he cares.

Considering that I get "the algorithm" trying to direct me to all sorts of narrative/commentary videos about games like Fallout 4/NV etc. I don't click them so I don't really get them anymore - my point in mentioning this is that there are thousands of people making narrative driven/edited videos about these "classic" games.

DSP's videos are raw, unedited shit and he's literally less interesting than paint drying. I know he thinks he stands a chance of getting a video to go viral like the good old days (which is why he mentions "going viral" so much) but there is literally zero chance of it happening in this day and age, and even if a video gets slightly more views because of some keyword combo, as you have mentioned, almost everyone turns off his channel almost immediately.

If the market for narrative/edited videos about games is already full, and the market for edited playthroughs is full, then the market for unedited/raw content of a fat, balding idiot who is extremely boring and takes years to progress through games because he keeps getting distracted by his faggy RGB lighting is totally beyond saturated.

I know you and everyone else reading here already knows all of this - but DSP doesn't. He still thinks there is some world where he regains early YouTube viewcounts. It is never going to happen. Unless he does some dramatic change on his channel/personality/focus then he will never get new viewers in at this stage. The only thing that will happen over time is that he is going to gradually lose more and more of whatever "real" audience he has ever had. He is never going to gain a new audience, and that's not because of "da detractors " or "da algorithm" but it is because his content is genuinely shit.

Without doing any actual analysis the amounts seem similar but the frequency seems less (I could of course be totally wrong, I will be very honest and say I don't want to expend the effort to proof my hypothesis here)

He actually read out the analytics for this particular video and the watchtime itself was hilarious. It dropped sharply after 1 or 2 minutes. Meaning of the 59 minutes only two were mostly watched. The video itself has a lowly 35k views which isn't a lot. He also complained he made no money on it (well duh when most fuck of after 2 minutes why do you demand money?)

He also did a "Thank you for revitalizing my channel" video and he was so proud he got like 600k views. Like my dude. You are just scrapping the barrel at this point espeically since he has fallen below 500k views for the last months

That he made a video update about one of his videos getting 35k views speaks volumes about how desperate and also how delusional he is. 35k views is fucking nothing. How has he been a full time YouTuber for this long and still remains so out of touch about this sort of shit?

(Don't bother answering - we all know the answer here: he is still stuck in the early YouTube mindset when they gave him free money for doing fuck all. His long term plan was always to build up a massive content library that would pay him out in his later years but that never materialized because not only does no one want to watch his shit, but it turns out that when companies reward people for installing FRAPS and recording video games it will attract billions of people who try to do the same and will become financially unviable.)

The first "lets play" I ever made btw was sometime around 1996-1998 when I hooked up my Playstation to my computer which had a capture card. It required literal monkey on a typewriter skills and the only reason my lets play didn't become virally famous is because YouTube hadn't been invented yet.

The fun thing is comparing it to Detractor videos: The average Memology DSP video is over 20k after 2 to 3 days. If it is hyped one, 30k. It it goes "viral", multiple 10ks of views, even above 100k. Also don't forget, we are talking here about daily DSP "highlight" videos spliced with classic DSP meme clips.

In conclusion: Phil is draining his whales and dolphins dry and all the small fish are leaving his pond, while the detractor waterpark is still live and well and probably growing. ALT's lorestream about insects and DSP during a bad time for US viewers has 700 viewers, more than double than a DSP primetime stream these days.

Let's be real here, the YouTube bubble has long bursted. It should be just considered a fun hobby now, because trying to make money out of it is basically impossible unless you are one of the few chosen ones. Or you have the fortune of having retards giving you money for doing nothing.

But it should be no problem for Phil, right? He does this out of passion, not for money!

All of the psychological torment, social isolation, and the thorough ruining of our life for this keeping up of the appearances that all started from the easy checks from 2009-2014. He makes 30 videos a day, all just segments of his nightmare streams chopped up, 6 days a week for ten years. His transition from a shitty let's player to 'full-time' streamer is the point when he should have jumped ship and got his act together. Instead of recording our TV with a camera and being an unfunny racist idiot, we're now reminiscing on recording our TV with a camera and being an unfunny racist idiot, with even less shame and no grasp on reality whatsoever.

Every time he wakes up, he has to assume the 'techy-Seattle' down on his luck underdog, that always gets back up. The problem is that all of his problems are insoluble, he's the hermit that has pushed everyone away, yet demands money from strangers on the internet. He is the creatively bankrupt content creator, whose schedule reflects his hatred of his life and his job. When he dies, all that's going to be left are his thousands of hours of lying and throwing everyone that has ever interacted with him ever under the bus. He is the worst streamer on the internet. Other people may be bad streamers, but they don't do this as a job or a source of income, nor have it be the thing which their entire day revolves around. Phil styles himself as a 'hardcore' gamer, as a veteran Youtuber, a pioneer for all the big names, yet he plays games worse than children, is devoid of any passion in playing games, and has been ostracized by every other Youtuber and Streamer in his gamut.
If this was your job, you would do absolutely EVERYTHING in your power to prevent yourself from jerking off on stream. Phil doesn't care, he's a five-year-old that can do nothing wrong, he's going to get his money anyways because our gameplay is divine, and we don't recognize the sock accounts as sock accounts. He also speaks in that euphemistic business-talk bullshit, "I'm taking hits" "The stream Isn't going too well", because he is just another heteronomous slimeball eking out an existence, with no moral regard to what he does ever.
Phil deserves everything that has happened to him, the whales causing him to regress to the maturity, intelligence, and demeanor of a babbling three-year-old included. Unfortunately, he'll never be normal enough to recognize that he was ever in the wrong, nor the damage to him having been justified. He's going to die a narcissist, there will be no romantic pay-off where he recognizes that he did any wrong.
