Tabletop Roleplaying Games (D&D, Pathfinder, CoC, ETC.)

See that's just straight up bizarre to me. All of the stupid shit WotC does with the game and they shy away from furfags? If there was one way you could potentially make money off of selling pozzed gamebooks it would be to shill to those people, they toss fistfuls of money at whatever will acknowledge them. Confounding business decision.
All of the other races in the NuPHB are in 5e. Maybe WotC wanted to avoid including too much "new" content that might alienate 5.0 players. I think the ardlings are cool though, they're less of a "furry" race and are presented as animal-headed people like Egyptian Gods. Of course, much like how every Dragonborn is just a half-dragon and every Warforged is a construct of any kind I'm sure players would avoid actually reading the race's description and make the sparkledog of their dreams instead.

It really doesn't make much sense why they cut the race; sure, they were a bit "snowflakey", but you'd think that WOTC would've put them in regardless given the amount of money furries and other degenerates would've given for them. Especially since the community has, again, been begging for a wolf/dog race for nearly a decade at this point.

I'm sure Musk was just shittalking and has no intention of putting out any cash for D&D. Shame though, it would be hilarious if he did. The screaming freakouts would be pure entertainment for months after.
that's what they said about twitter, then he was forced to buy it, now here we are...

Besides people just giving poor feedback on the UA playtest, there may be a few reasons. Since racial ASIs aren't part of the game anymore the only two things that separate one species race from the other is their unique abilities and appearance. In the playtest, they got flight, cleric spells, and Radiant resistance. If you look at the Aasimar, it gets (among other things) flight, a Cleric spell, and Radiant resistance. Ardlings are largely redundant. Plus, to include a new race in the PHB would come with the implicit requirement to make ardlings "evergreen" present in every setting which might be a headache for WotC, who wants to push their own settings and DMs with already-established worlds.

might be difficult to sell because it doesn't have MUH BRAND on the cover. they want to play because of the anime, either it really needs to be cyberpunk in either edition (probably red because that's already close to the game) or any other game where you can just slap the names on it (which might be too much for just oneshot or sth).

@skykiii
best course is figuring out how much they need the same game, or anything cyberpunk because of the broader setting. if it's the latter just play shadowrun IU as mentioned or anything where you don't need to add a lot of work to make it appear like something else.
I talked this over with them. One of them already knows what Interlock is so the rules aren't gonna be an issue. Really its actually me who is worried because I wanna make sure I get the "feel" of the world down and I'm the biggest Cyberpunk newb in the group.

They want me to DM because I'm also the only guy who is actually good at making up adventures. So its a weird case where I'm creative, I just don't know the material, and I don't want a player backseating me the whole time.

Really for me that's what the sourcebooks are good for, all the lore stuff and an idea of how its basically supposed to work and why.

Might resort to just finding an online scan since I still have no fucking clue what the difference is between Red and 2020 (both are apparently still being sold and I'm not sure if 2020 is a straight reprint or if there's been changes).

Well, that makes sense. Still, I wish they'd kept the race; change a few things, it could've been decent at least. TBH, I hope they at least try to revisit the concept in the future; could be interesting, if handled well.

2013 was the original but is was fairly small. 2020 was the main OG version. Red is the modern updated version and it's not just a straight reprint, the timeline has moved on post 4th Corporate War for instance

Nonono, I was asking if this is a straight-up reprint.

game or genre?
Honestly both. I've played SNES Shadowrun, read Neuromancer (though I can't remember a damn thing about it), and people tell me Ghost in the Shell counts as cyberpunk.... but yeah that's the limit of my experience with the genre.

And beyond that I'm not sure if there's anything in the Cyberpunk gameworld that stands out as unique or that players would expect, like if there's certain NPCs they would want to at least be acknowledged (from the Edgerunners anime I know about Adam Smasher at least).

This is why YouTubers are hyping Tales Of The Valiant as "the real 6e". I wasn't around for 4e, but I imagine the rise of Pathfinder was like this?

For what it's worth, I gave TotV a skim and I'm not really seeing any real differences. Not enough to pick it up anyway. There's a video going over the differences, and it's kind of needed because to a casual reader, it's basically the same game.
There are other 5e derivatives out there that seem to be doing more with the system. I already mentioned Nimble 5e.
I had totally forgotten about kobold press "5e clone" and never heard about nimble 5e until now. Could you give me a rundown on those two and other 5e derivatives?

I've said before that I've used Eberron as a backdoor pulp adventure setting. What's a good setting for other genres? And what are some good desert settings? These can be DnD or other systems.

There's obvious stuff. Darksun, Ravenloft, and I've used Eberron as a backdoor pulp adventure before. What about spies, or a desert adventures? I know of Al Quidim, but there's not much content for it, and Pathfinder's equiverlent has been ruined by canon events getting rid of the major villains.

The mechanical differences between 5e and 🏳️‍⚧️e are marginal. Yeah, they've smoothed out the differences between races, modified a few spells, and so on, but there's just not a lot of difference. It's the way the art, the fluff, the settings, and so on are now suffused with aggressive faggotry. KP is also a pretty woke company overall, so if you're expecting much from TotV, don't hold your breath. TotV is just some different crunch and, once again, removing things from races that bias them toward specific classes.

All I'm saying is that furniggers are an untapped market. Put me in charge for a month and I'll hire 2 Japanese perverts to churn out a bunch of furry shit and I'll have D&D back on the map. Give me a year and I'll have every single one of them signed up for a $59.99/month subscription service that just provides a shitty AI dungeon master. I'll do all of that and STILL keep the Blackrock shill money.

Ardlings did indeed get shitcanned since they were filling the same niche that aasimar did, so aasimar are in the PHB instead. You could probably lift a version of them from the playtest material and use them anyway if you like the idea. I don't think they were broken or overpowered (the first version might have been a tad), so it shouldn't be an issue.
Thank god I love Aasimars I hope the community dont fucking ruin them.

Thing is guys like Adam Smasher, Morgan Blackhand, etc. are the sorts of guys you talk about in hushed whispers and hope to never meet in person unless you've got fat stacks of cash and are trying to hire them.

Oh, and unlike how he's presented in 2077 Silverhand is a big name, world-famous rocker, not some random nobody playing dives just to afford scop.
