At this point if Assad hasn’t left the country, he’s not getting out.
I'm beginning to wonder if he's not already dead or powerless. I think something's gone terribly wrong in the Assad regime for things to turn around this much this quickly for them. I'm thinking
food issues maybe? Starvation is an easy way to persuade submission and clearly the regime
has not established a working economy for some time. I think the people suggesting
drugs replacing the pre-existing economy there are maybe correct.
We all know how poorly those things can spiral and how angry they can make locals who begin to get harassed by drug cartels, etc.
Maybe Iran is truly pulling on them because:
1. They're
baathist and have history.
2. They don't want mass starvation on their border and masses of refugees.
3. Potentially something strategic to do with Israeli bullshit.
This might be emergency intervention on all sides too... which might
suggest mass starvation and a horrifically out of control administration on part of Assad's regime (i.e. basically none). Something tells me the Russian's were maybe their last hand to feed on and they have been too busy in Ukraine.
That said... it is curious how these
"IS and friends" insurgencies have suddenly reappeared again. Something's going on. I've been a little out of the loop for this war for a few years though (Holy shit, 13 years long now, haven't checked since maybe
covid?). Last time I checked
IS was all but gone from there and now suddenly they're back. Maybe these could be the reason why people are allowing the rebels to just waltz in. They don't want more
IS bullshit.

Personally, I think
IS is a
psyop operation to create
intentional "proactive" blowback while acting as a selective breeding
honeypot for "extremist types". This seems to be a common strat all over the globe now,
especially with thawing the Taliban's extremism. The idea is to pool in extremists to honeypots and then executing them through uneven warfare. But it could also mean they use
IS to manipulate these forms of conflicts nowadays. We all know they have US/Israeli connections though (I mean
IS had a spot bunkered literally on the border of Israel for some time and the Israelis were "just ok" with that).
IS is as
real of a "rebel force" as /pol/, Stormfront or KF even (kek). Some LARPy bullshit. The vids and their quality prove that they're being groomed at least by competent people somewhere that are manipulating them.

The Turkish Foreign Minister to his American counterpart: The Syrian government must conduct a dialogue with the opposition
Yeah this is not a good sign. Something really bad is happening and it might even be genocide. We will see... probably in about 24 hours at this rate. :^)
