2024 Syrian opposition offensives - The first Syrian rebel offensive against Government forces since March 2020

So, did anyone even help Syria or did everyone just got fed up with Assad? It's just sorta funny that I seen Z vs NAFO fights happening here earlier, but it seems there was some behind the curtain deal happening instead.
Syria fell too fast for Iran and Russia to do anything. Especially since both countries decided to fight great power wars over the last year that incurred ruinous losses in blood, treasure, and military equipment.

Syria was the geopolitical event that made me more 'aware' of what was going on internationally. Got me really interested in international relations. Even took a class on it. It was a great jumping off point for me because it's was connected to international institutions. Also the whole refugee crisis was a a major redpill. Learning Erdogan would allowed ISIS recruits to get into syria for the caliphate? Brexit?

Losing Assad is pretty unfortunate, but in the end he couldn't turn a corner since 2016. There was no infrastructure rebuilt. America has been camping in the north west supporting the kurds. Venezuala rebounded better. The Israel-Gaza debacle really shows the lack of solidarity amongst muslim countries. Iran is exposed as being all bark and zero bite. Saudis on their knees for israel. Libya is still fucked. Erdogan being the annoying turk.

You wouldn't believe how I much I miss this nigga.....

It's the sanctions. Economy got fucked in government areas but was fine in al-Qaeda ruled areas because the sanctions were less.
Turkey's goons looted everything they could during the civil war and then Assad's ones did the same, too. And the Syrian government was never worried about reconstruction, almost makes the US in Iraq and Afghanistan look good.

WE WILL NOT BE HINDERED! ONE PATH TO FREEDOM!
Also, enjoy this utterly delusional crossover:

They up and left. Russia is currently stretched hard in Ukraine and can no longer give Assad the same level of aid he got when things first kicked of, and after Israel wrecked Hezbollah both they and their patron Iran decided to cut their losses and ditch Assad. No international support combined with the rebels having some sort of plan and prep work for this assault meant that in hindsight success was all but guaranteed.
You're jumping to conclusions, HTS controls territory right next to the golan.
Let me just quote what Lincoln told his Cabinet when he backed down towards the UK following the Trent Affair: "One war at a time, gentlemen." With Assad gone expect something to happen. I hope a proposal for some sort of joint occupation agreement since the Syrians want it back and Israel clearly won't let them unless there's a way Israel can guarantee it won't be used against them again. And I doubt they'll consider anything less than an active garrison there to be acceptable for those purposes.

I found it interesting that in Trump's official statement, he calls HTS 'opposition fighters' and not terrorists.
This actually makes sense. Whatever your opinion of Trump is, and mine isn't generally good, his prime actually good trait is not seeking out optional wars. People may bitch about "isolationism" or whatever, but it's just a good idea not to get into stupid, costly wars of choice. The absolute best thing about Trump is just not being a neocon.
Did the Iraqi people rest after Saddam fell? Libyans after Gaddafi?
Who cares? I don't. Let's just not be like those other two cases. Whoever wins, wins. Let's just not fuck around and get blamed for it by whoever wins. Whoever wins is maybe not our buddy, but let's not preemptively piss them off with dumb bullshit and CIA shenanigans.

This. Syria wants a new ruler, let that ruler step forth and present themselves.

600,000 people have died in this war, many millions more were displaced and most of the country has at minimum been damaged or outright lies in ruins (including parts of Damascus itself, some suburbs like Daraya rebelled and were besieged for years) while Assad has evidently done little to no rebuilding even when there was a ceasefire on. Syria is obviously in no condition to fight Israel (or anyone else for that matter) even if Al-Jolani wanted to, and I don't believe he does - at least not right now, possibly not for decades. He's a smarter breed of jihadist than all the other ones he killed or buckbroke on the way to this outcome and it cannot have escaped his notice that Hezbollah jumping in to help Hamas, only to get crushed by Israel, is part of what gave him the opening to go all the way against Assad; no way he would risk his life's work by attacking da Joos and getting Nasrallah'd in turn anytime soon.

Russia, Iran and Hezbollah all helped Assad out with the limited assets they still had to spare on Syria after (respectively) the Ukrainian war and the Axis of Resistance vs. Israel showdown post-October 7 2023. It just wasn't even close to enough.

Syrian girl has thrown in the towel, it's actually fucking over. (Link|Archive)
This is why you shouldn't ever get too invested in geopolitics, and especially never revolve your entire online presence around it. Because now your social media is completely tied to sucking off a regime that couldn't even last a week and a half the moment its puppet masters allies stopped bailing them out, the regime you so loved was an utter paper tiger, and you worshipped it while living on an entirely different continent.

Wow this is sure out of left field. I’ve always been casually pro-Assad even know I know very little about him because I hate communists and Al-Qaeda (never forget, brother). One thing is for sure about Arabs; just when you think they can’t fuck up their little region of the world a bit worse they will always surprise you.

So the Rebels are asking for Jew money. Israel is an easy bride to please, give her peace and let her have the Golan and they will do whatever you want.

Translation:

Syrian rebel speaking to Israel’s Channel 11: “Dear neighbours & friends from the friendly state of Israel, I’m talking to you, the people of Daraa are joyous after Assad’s rule was diminished. I’m speaking on my behalf and all the free people of Syria, our next phase will be harmony & peace with the state of Israel. There will be no extremism, we share passion. We invite Israel to come to Syria and invest.”
