It really is hilarious that pretty much any big scary "dictatorship" gets the absolute shit kicked out of them when Western countries fund their opponents and provides them with weapons that haven't been sitting in cosmoline since the 70s/been sold to an African warlord.

I'd be getting really nervous if I was the leader of any oppressive regime in whatever shithole country because Russia floundering in Ukraine has sent a fairly clear message that anyone backed by them is an absolute pushover.

It is the right picking itself up and actually fighting in the culture war. While the left continues to prove it has actually forgotten how.
It's glorious. We actually saw this in parts during GamerGate. The left got so used to the right just having learned to not ever fight back and to flinch at the threat of a punch that the New Right standing up and giving them a bloody nose and a bruised shin has them sputtering and demanding the right go back to flinching while they perform the ceremony of threatening to punch. "How dare you fight back / mock me / tell me no, that's not how this is supposed to go!"

The left has no idea how to defend their ideas anymore because they take their being correct (morally, ethically, culturally, spiritually, what have you) as self evident, and consider merely disagreeing with them to be a moral failing on the other person's side. Meanwhile the New Left went as extreme as they could possibly go because the left is utterly incapable of gatekeeping their big tent; they literally can't understand the question "what does it mean when leftist politics goes too far?"

Remember when they ask this they tried to pass off someone nearly killing the president as him being scared of loud noises popping off.
and you know they would be celebrating if he didn't turn his head at the right time
they're not your countrymen, much less your friends
They also don't get why assassinating the president would be so bad for them. Do they want a jd vance presidency?

John Bagot Glubb sounds like John Fagot Glubb who likes 'em bumboys in uniform young and like Jared Taylor, another armchair historian who used his donut steel Unified Theory of History to hammer every nail of an example while ignoring anything that proved it inadequate, in his case it was "geography determines if your people succeed or not".

The fundamental problem of Sir Fagot is his autistic definition of an empire which nobody else uses. It's like with fucking libertarians again who pay more attention to their stupid definitions they can't even agree on with each other to figure out that an ideology based on extreme individualism will never suceed as a fucking society.

Tell me how the Eastern Roman Empire (up and running for 1000 years), Holy Roman Empire (also 1000 years) and Chinese Empire (2000 years) fit into Glubb's theory. Fucking hell, the idea that nomadic people conquering the land sooner or later settle down and get fat lazy and complacent is something anyone not clinically retarded understands unconciously, but maybe the Bri'sh are special.

I'm rereading, but I don't know that he gives a simple, one line answer, it's more the cycle and the shared characteristics. Not every state is an empire. The Swiss, for example.
ahahahahahahaha
You blathering idiot. You complain up and down about people not engaging with the specific definition he uses, and then when pressed to define it you can't even whip something up?

That specific definition is the problem. If I'm understanding everyone including you right, his definition of empire is really another concept misnamed as such. In which case it's possible we can have a debate on that concept, but we need you to specifically define it.

It doesn't have to be an elevator pitch - you could list some set of conditions that qualify for empire and non-empire - but surely if this is worth discussing, the concept of empire should be clear enough to explain without much issue? then we can discuss whether america fits that definition or not.

You niggas need to stop dooming about America. The libshits are a dying breed they are just throwing death spasms right now.
Libshits is not the label I would use to identify those that advocate cancerous views.

XXXIX Summary
As numerous points of interest have arisen in the course of this essay, I close with a brief summary, to refresh the reader’s mind.
(a) We do not learn from history because our studies are brief and prejudiced.
(b) In a surprising manner, 250 years emerges as the average length of national greatness.
(c) This average has not varied for 3,000 years. Does it represent ten generations?
(d) The stages of the rise and fall of great nations seem to be:
The Age of Pioneers (outburst)
The Age of Conquests
The Age of Commerce
The Age of Affluence
The Age of Intellect
The Age of Decadence.
(e) Decadence is marked by:
Defensiveness
Pessimism
Materialism
Frivolity
An influx of foreigners
The Welfare State
A weakening of religion.
(f) Decadence is due to:
Too long a period of wealth and power
Selfishness
Love of money
The loss of a sense of duty.
(g) The life histories of great states are amazingly similar, and are due to internal factors.
(h) Their falls are diverse, because they are largely the result of external causes.
(i) History should be taught as the history of the human race, though of course with emphasis on the history of the student’s own country.

Using Glubb as a guide; who is it that advocates and spreads:
Anti-imperialism, 'toxic masculinity' (Defensiveness)
Infighting, endless negative news (Pessimism)
Commercialization, consumerism (Materialism)
Social media, Hollywood, porn (Frivolity)
Non-White immigrants (influx of foreigners)
Cronyism, foreign aid, entitlements (Welfare State)
Antichristian (A weakening of religion)
Easy credit, 'celebrity' lifestyles (Decadence)
Atomized Individualism (Selfishness)
Banker & Corporate interests (Love of money)
Against White solidarity (The loss of a sense of duty)

If I loudly and proudly advocated that America was built for "free white persons of good character" and America should exclusively cater to those interests. Who is it that will de-bank me? Will only libshits de-bank me? Is there a larger pattern to be seen?

"Free white persons of good character" and "the empire of liberty" is the American empire. If expansionist wars are fought not for those purposes, then the American empire is subverted and dying.

Depends on if they have any control over the golem. I'm going to presume a small protest but nothing like 1/6, due to no glowy infiltration and incitement.
I'm not so sure anymore, the Trump derangement is wild, to the point of both executing, and being able to execute, multiple assassination attempts on the man. I can easily see some of the crazier fuckers deciding "Well if it was ok for the Chuds to do it, its ok for me to do it" and doing what they think J6 was. And the similarly deranged intelligence assets, especially those who feel threatened by Trump, have the means to help make it happen, glowing groundswell and all that.

I also don't think it'll change anything, in either direction. But there is a juicy possibility of both seeing the Golem be smacked down, and seeing widespread praise for smacking it down among normies. It'll fucking shatter the bluesky retards if they see the majority cheering for some dangerhair taking a baton to the head.

Greatest political comeback in history
I want to know the logic of people in favor of the Hunter Biden pardon. What the fuck
Speaking of which
[Hunter] abused escorts, ran a prostitution ring, laundered money through a family influence peddling operation, got his brother's widow addicted to crack, disposed of a loaded gun near a high school and refused to pay child support.

The Atlantic: Look how bad he's treated.

With ads like this I can see why the flip happened. Half the black people in the area either got coached, watched or played against this dude while the former mayor has done nothing to help their lives.

If you're Roman, you get a second go at it, but do you really want to argue the post 180AD Roman Empire had the same energy and drive it did under Augustus?
I prefer to think about it in terms of "did life change for an average person on the ground?" A taxpaying, normie citizen. And by that definition, his definition is retarded. When Marcus Aurelius put Commodus in charge and broke the streak of Adoptive Emperors and they moved to hereditary for him and the Severans, that wasn't a fundamental change. Augustus would have absolutely put a son in charge if he had one, he floated Germanicus and others in his family; he "adopted" Tiberius out of desperation. And there were many cases pre-180 where there were other ways the Emperor got the job, including the highest bidder.

In 180, life went on. Manlius the farmer or Publius the Senator or Quintus the Innkeeper saw no difference in their day to day, nor did their kids, grand kids, great-grandkids, etc. Some families lost status, some became more prosperous than ever over the next 150 years. The Empire lost no territory, and I think Septimius may have had some small gains. It broke up with the Gallic and Palmyran Empires, but then was reconsolidated. You could say Diocletian's attempt at a legal succession plan with the Tetrarchy was a change in government, but that didn't last. His Orientalizing of the position of Emperor did, as did Constantine's Christianizing. BUT...trade went on, taxes were collected, people farmed, and could travel to and fro safely. Even splitting it to East and West went back and forth, and sometimes one Emperor had primacy over the other but they still worked together and sent candidates for Emperor and officials back and forth. The Roman Empire had demonstrably fallen by 476, but the decline was so gradual, with small losses of territory and a psychological rift between East and West that was gradual and not on paper so much that defining a hard end is impossible. Even in the early 500s the Gothic kings in Italy were nominally subjects of Constantinople, minted coins with the Eastern Emperor's face, and payed some taxes. It was only when Justinian said "OK, hold up, let's admit we're not in control there and need to reconquer it" that the fiction ended.

And to me, that's the real parallel with America. Not putting some arbitrary 250 year timer on us, but noting there are factors that show a decline and it could go either way. I'm not a doomer and I don't feel a fall or split is inevitable, but it is possible. We see some of the same factors from Rome in our current state, namely the factionalization, demagoguery, and lawfare that doomed the Republic, and the loss of world prestige, influence outside our borders, and mass migrations of unassimilated foreigners that ruined the Empire.

But as trite and hoary as comparisons to Rome are, they at least let us see from an outside perspective what is going wrong so we might fix it. It could still go either way at this point, and 100 years from now America could be stronger than ever, and this could all be a blip. Or we could Balkanize in my lifetime. But it's not inevitable just because 250 years have passed.

Running for mayor because one of your students got shot is a helluva political origin story.

Southern University (HBCU in Baton Rouge) had their annual rivalry game in Jackson MS yesterday and apparently that killed enough of Broome's turnout. Nobody, and I mean nobody familiar with this race expected this outcome although in hindisght there ware clear indicators from early voting that ended last week that old girl was in trouble. Nobody was really paying attention.

EDIT: It wasn't just their rivalry game it was the SWAC Championship! Southern lost.
