The Syrian Civil War itself isn't so much as interesting as is the upcoming transition of power from one overthrown autocracy to a new system. Will we see another Libya situation where there's a civil war after the civil war or will one of the factions of the FSA take control of Syria and shut the others out of government. Only time will tell.

There's about ten different islamist groups involved and you've also got the Kurds in there, Libyafication is almost inevitable, particularly with Israel stirring the pot as well.
