For anyone who doesn't know, Balatro is a really fun game and a lot of successful streamers play it cause of how complex and rng it is. This stream is absolutely miserable cause Phil is overanalyzing the game and doing nothing. Bro, it's a casual game I play on my phone during my breaks during work. You don't have to call our all the possible hang combos every turn.

I second this, especially if he bumped up the speed. If there is one critique I have with the game, it's that the default speed is a tad slow.

He lost his first run on the 2nd boss. Diamond debuff boss. He goes "Yeah, that diamond debuff is what killed me!"

What actually killed him:
1)In shop he bought red card joker (really good joker if used properly). This starts with a 0 modifier. He also had a joker in there for +2 chips for every card in his deck. That joker is brokenly OP early game and still holds good later. He did not buy that, so he went into the boss by buying something that did nothing. Didn't even open and skip the booster packs to give the red card stats.
2)Wasted his discards early on.
3)Discarded a 10 for some reason.
4)Ignored diamond cards completely. The debuff makes it so they aren't scored and a disables diamond flush. It's not like they can't still use them in poker hands.

For all the grief Phil gets for playing games like CoD and Marvel Rivals on PC with controller, I can kind of rationalize it. As someone who grew up as a console peasant the transition from controller to keyboard and mouse can be tough and auto-aim is so overturned in most of the crossplay games out these days you're probably at an overall advantage on a pad.

Playing Balatro on controller however, a game you literally play on a mouse with only left click and requires you to arrange and drag cards back and forth across the screen, is fucking insane and it's giving me brain cancer watching him scroll through cards one by one to select them.

Now im no professional streamer that does on demand content, but looking at those pictures and how he set stuff up looks really uncomfortable and claustrophobic. Also his cable management is still shit it seems since he can step on those or the cat(not the fat one) can claw at it or some dumb shit. Finally with all the equipment he has there, there must be summer heat all year long, imagine how would he fare if a really nasty storm would hit the area and he woukd be without electricity for days or even weeks!


Also question for the elder kiwis: has he ever spend more than one day without electricity?
