this is really true though. when you're crazy and convince yourself that you and a person have a deep, emotional connection and you feel like you dont have it with anyone else, it's easy to have the mindset that "every relationship is hard, you just got to work through it." Even if this relationship was hard for really, really messed up reasons.

The thing is that you might doubt it, but it's true - and honestly narcissistic sociopaths actually tend to be really good at disguising who they really are. Shmorky was basically completely "normal" seeming to pretty much everybody until relatively recently. I can't really speak much for anything past about 2011 (since that's when I was last chatting with him), but between 2003 and 2011 he maintained a persona that was completely normal, mocked furries, pedos, etc. From what @Lowtax has said, it seems like there was a rapid downturn after around 2014 when he found a community that accepted his weirdness and then started thinking that because there were enough people who thought it was okay, then it was okay in real life. Subsequently, Lowtax distanced himself from Shmorky. Mand is nuts, but she (and many others) have already acknowledged that. Even with that weirdness though, nobody thought he was grooming kids until the chatlogs came out. Since then, everybody who worked with him has been distancing themselves as fast as possible.

Without derailing too much, can I just say something - The schizophrenia jokes/insults/degrading comments, I get it, this is Kiwi Farms and it's a place where one needs to have a thick skin, but @carefully has schizophrenia too. It's one thing to insult me, even though it's been done a thousand times and is getting rather old, but can we at least have some consideration for @carefully ? The kid who was fucking groomed by a man who preys specifically on women with disabilities and mental illnesses really does not deserve that, and at least for her sake, could you just try and understand that schizophrenia isn't what it was in the 1800s and there are meds and treatments now that can keep schizophrenia sufferers grounded in reality, and we're both doing our best to just manage it, live our lives, and deal. If it's possibly for you at all, could you stop rubbing the fact that we have mental illnesses in our face and insist that it's somehow our fault and that we're worthless 'psychos' because of that? It's one thing to do it to me, but at least try, just try, to be a little less disgusting about it, at least for Carefully? Please?

They're doing it for a reaction, and because it's dismissive. Most of us are totally aware that you're on meds and doing your best to control your illness, and the ones that are trying to fuck with you are the ones getting negative votes. Just try and ignore it.
