Yea I meant it more so as investing time in energy getting back into EDH. I never actually invested in the cards, although I did sell a wonderful xenagos deck to get an apartment downpayment years ago. Also what is up with not doing blocks anymore were we go to different planes?? Whos idea was this

If its a bad idea, its probably because of Mark Rosewater as much as he tries to deny it.

Just a reminder that he tried to blame the collective unconscious thoughts of the playerbase for willing the Spongebob Secret Lair into existence.

He should have been shot years ago for will and grace. No idea how this fucker is still around

Seems the main reason why WotC officially took over Commander is so that they (Hasbro) can release a Commander video game.

Care to elaborate on that? MTGO already has it and its almost certainly coming to Arena at some point...unless...?
Commander isn't coming to Arena as they'll never release all of the cards out there for the game and can't handle more than two people.
Currently, Hasbro is testing a video game version of Commander, which would potentially be separate from Arena and allow for more than two players to compete. Hasbro is also looking to make the digital versions of its cards more collectible, like the popular game Marvel Snap.
Best way to do it would to make it a separate game but launch from Arena.

narset being an autist isnt a very good look, if youv'e ever played against her in the formats she's legal in

she stops ur opponent from drawing cards, and whoeevr runs her also runs wheel effects (bkth players discard and draw 7)

u can see where this goes
Maybe they are just playing legacy charbelcher?
play manaless dredge like a real man or go home
With Modern Masters sets it's easier to get into Modern than it used to be and many of the cards released find their way into Legacy and even EDH, though not a lot of places do competitive EDH. Just check out places like Massdrop for good box prices. Booster boxes are insanely overpriced now.
i played legacy and vintage on xmage (basically an MTGO clone where all cards are available for free, but with an even shittier UI), i quit after they began adding universes beyond shit

So WotC freaked out over the word Kali after they found it means "black" (it means more than that, but those simpering faggots wouldn't know that), so they hired language consultants for the next set.

So that's what I'm curious about. In what other ways does it mean. Like is it really the Indu equivalent of "nigger" or is that just a claim by some money hungry consultants?

Kali is the Hindu goddess of destruction, with the name Kali Mata she is the dark mother (The black one). However they don't understand what those words mean in a foreign language and just think of it in English terms, not the fact that she's depicted as an eight armed blue skinned woman, blue skin being the common colour for Hindu gods.. Personally, she's the originator of Ahegao and should be boycotted for her crimes.

This just tells me that WotC hates streets shitters. Based, but their religious lore is interesting.

It's such a retarded non issue that it makes me want to leverage my own """""""""""""""poc-ness""""""""""""""" to find a job in the industry of fagging up games and charge 10k an hour to say "yep, this is le racist, change it". Like they even had it changed in universe because REVOLUTION or whatever. Again, it's just so stupid.

Kala, you dyslexic silly billy. It was never Kali and wasn't named for the god

More specifically, they're renaming Kaladesh. Previous setting and part of the upcoming pod-racing Aetherdrift set.

Apparently Kaladesh translates to 'Dark Land' which is 'problematic' because it is ostensibly a setting primarily featuring pajeets.

More info if you so desire it:

The easiest solution would've been to not take a 1:1 translation and have a linguistics nerd come up with something same-y sounding rather than just airdropping Hindi unaltered.

I will maintain that the Kaladesh setting is the stupidest of the sets I've been going through (I'm up to Outlaws of Thunder Junction) and looking at cards and how the game has changed. An India-themed setting could be really cool (in terms of mythology, lore, etc.) but it just comes off as the most saccharine, milquetoast pandering expansion just from reading flavor text/looking at card art.

There's other sets that are uninspiring or are weak mechanically. Murders at Karlov Manor is another one that just screams 'bland', largely because I think they were wanting to do a police-themed expansion while not talking about or mentioning anything remotely close to referencing real world law enforcement. (The art direction is also pretty shit, to be honest.)

I really don't understand where all this genuflecting to India is coming from. Last I checked WotC wasn't in Canada.

It's more the fact that Kala is a slur for muslims (learned some great new slurs from this btw), not it translating to dark land. I at least appreciate they didn't retcon the name and gave a semi-reasonable explanation for the change in universe though it's still a retarded change.
Aetherdrift doesn't look like a great set and I'm not looking forward to Chandra entering a race to win a gift for her girlfriend and winning through the power of love or whatever.

I hope the forced Mascot character Loot wins because it would make some of the wannabe tough guys at my store unreasonably mad, and making MTG neackbeards mad IRL is fun.

You do know that names can have just one letter changed right? It's why they found out it meant black. Look at all the variations of the French word for flower.

Next set is equally stupid as is the idea of the prize. There's lots of mythologies out there they can take ideas from but that would mean hurting peoples feelings or something that have been dead for millennia

Based on the link I shared, they chose that particular portmanteau after consulting with language experts during the original Kaladesh design period because it specifically meant dark, but didn't realize it had 'other' connotations in other dialects (or I guess is used as a slur against Muslims.)

It wasn't from a lack of understanding of what words meant or having anything to do with the Hindu goddess Kali, even if the word is used in different contexts.

Doesn't change that this is a massive overreaction. Starting to wonder if Elon could actually buy WotC. Biggest hopium? He gets WotC and immediately kills the Reserve List.

The company is being run by Leftists, of course they'd over react. It's like the mid 90's when the Right overreacted to the artwork
